I'm ALL for the Capitalist market to succeed and for farmers to succeed. However, when they succeed on the backs of the taxpayers, I have a problem. Handouts to farmers, subsidies, and now the ethanol canard that's artificially inflated corn prices just irk me. I grew up in farm country and lived the last decade and a half in farm country. I am well aware of the plight of the farmers. However.......... a good majority of farms are run by corporations, not the independent farmer. So, just whose pockets are we REALLY lining??
By the way, the cotton and peanut industry has died in my home town, part of which made it a fairly successful area.
By the way, I'm GLAD you're going to net some half a million dollars.......
