http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3440720I know, I know.
It's not nice to make fun of people in distress.
But I was nice yesterday, not making fun of the skidmarked underwear primitive in eastern Iowa, and used up my quota of "nice" when it comes to the wretched miserable primitives.

proud2Blib! Are you out of the basement yet?
Are you all OK in KC? I have not heard any reports but wanted to check. Greenbriar is also in the basement. I am out of the basement for now. Please let us know when you get out how you are.
KC DUers, this is a very nasty line of storms. Please check in and let us know how you are.
The Kansas primitives all check in okay:

2. I was out of the basement a while ago, but that was to chain the trashcans down.
The hail was exciting.
I think it is better now, here in KCKS.

3. OK in Westport.
I didn't go to the basement. I had a film crew working here.

15. Quiet and nice up here in SE Nebraska, we will send it your way tomorrow--
we had our tornadoes last night. Seems like all the Midwest and eastern Plains are just getting walloped this year, more than usual. Good luck!

18. Never went down there
It's too wet. We have had so much rain our sump pump is overwhelmed. So I am in my living room listening to the lightning and thunder. Kid is in the basement in the studio banging on the drums and DH is in bed sound asleep.
Just another spring evening for this typical Kansas family.

28. It seems we get a thunderstorm with hail almost every single night now.
I am in Lawrence, so we get the storms as they move east from Topeka or west from KC. Wee lost electricity for a while, but when it came back on, I was able to watch TV video of tornadoes forming and very briefly touching down in KC and elsewhere--including just on the outskirts of Lawrence and near De Soto.
This has been a hell of a storm season already, and it is just the middle of June!

32. Hey Breeze!
Both Proud and GB posted above and last I heard both were fine.
It came right over my house. We could hear it. Nasty things they are. A couple of trees hit by lightning I think but I could not get out there because the pasture was running like a river. Some big tree branches down, little ones everywhere and the tops of a strip of them look like they had haircuts. Other than that as far as I know things are fine. I may have some surprises as I coast around looking but nothing bad I am certain.
Thanks for asking. There are some pictures on another thread, I think about a tornado in Topeka that Proud posted last night.
Edit to add photos so you don't have to search
after which links to primitive bonfires with photographs of the storms in Kansas, but I couldn't get the things to copy-and-paste aesthetically

33. Don't have a basement...
I've got a crawl space that I can get into through the garage, but I always scrape and bang-up my knees and shins when I crawl through the little entryway, so it would have to be storming pretty hard for me to seek cover.
You know, I went through the whole bonfire, and no primitive blamed it on George Bush. Very odd.
