Two Virginia women charged over homespun herbal abortion

Two Virginia women are being charged with inducing an abortion using herbs they purchased at a local supplement store, according to Norfolk-based WTKR-TV.

The women are Jessica Carpenter, 20, and Rachel Lowe, 27. Court documents allege that Lowe, a former employee of the Tidewater Women’s Clinic in Norfolk, helped Carpenter induce a miscarriage at six months into her pregnancy using a combination of herbs.

Lea Smith, one of their mutual friends, told WTKR-TV that she heard them discussing an induced miscarriage. She contacted police when the infant died after being born prematurely.

This is why we need to do more to prevent unwanted pregnancies and to make sure that women don't feel that doing this sort of thing is their only option. Virginia is on track to close every abortion provider in the state.

2. Aw damn. Glad she survived, 6 months is a ways along. Lea Smith needs to keep her nose out of

other people's business. Or, contact women's clinic, not police.

6 months is old enough to get Gosnell convicted of 1st degree murder.

3. We will be seeing more and more of these stories

as long as republicans are successful in closing clinics that provide abortions. These stories were common in the dark ages before women had a right to choose and will become more common now.Until young women start to see real life consequences to their rights being taken away, nothing will stop the republicans.

And it was also the fault of GOP abolitionists getting slaves lynched for running away from the Democrat masters.

6. Sickens me. Primal fear and anxiety driven by the overwhelming need

to not be pregnant is real.

This story is a mess no matter which way you look at it.....I wonder if the turncoat "friend" is feeling like a godly self riotous whistle blower. So very very sad.

"Primal"?

You ****ing idiot.

Essential; fundamental.
Relating to an early stage in evolutionary development; primeval.

You're seriously peddling the idea that evolution has made women fear pregnancy?

7. I don't fault the friend at all...

The fault lies with the repukes who have done everything they could to legislate a woman's uterus by keeping birth control out of their hands and by shutting down clinics that would keep a woman safe.

This is indeed very sad.

paying your own $20/month = "keeping birth control out of their hand"

You lying pussies don't deserve oxygen.

8. This is what it was like before Roe v Wade.

I'm old enough to remember those days, and I remember plenty of stories like this.

The people who want to ban abortion seem to think that then no women will get abortions. No. They'll still get them, but at far greater risk to their own lives and ultimate ability to have a wanted baby.

I once read that half of the maternity ward beds in hospitals in Brazil actually serve women recovering from abortions. Abortions are illegal in Brazil.

Apparently this is what it is like AFTER Roe v. Wade.

The child was 6 MONTHS OLD. That is well into the age of viability. That's why she could not legally obtain an abortion because IT IS MURDER.

9. You can read recipes for how to do this right in the Bible

If it's in the Bible, it must be OK, right?

And Plato writes of hemlock.

Here's a thought, quit hopping in the sack with every Tom, Dick or Harry knowing a baby is the possible result.

Problem solved and it will take no government intervention.

Now, what is it that brought this poor girl to such a lowly enterprise in seeking out a "back alley abortion"?  Was it that abortion is illegal in Virginia?  No, that's not correct since the woman who helped kill her child worked at an abortion clinic.  What else could it be?

Could it be that she waited until she was in her third trimester and it would have been a Class 4 felony unless her life was in danger?  Could it have been because no sane doctor in the state of VA would bother to go to jail for this baby killing trash?  Could it be that she's a ****ing dingbat?

I'm guessing it's all three.

There is a gubernatorial election coming up this year in VA, and I hope that bucket of shit Terry McAuliff takes this story and runs with it until election day.  Maybe he can ask that last democrat idiot who tried "all abortion, all of the time" how well that worked out for him against McDonnell.

A community may possess all the necessary moral qualifications, in so high a degree, as to be capable of self-government under the most adverse circumstances; while, on the other hand, another may be so sunk in ignorance and vice, as to be incapable of forming a conception of liberty, or of living, even when most favored by circumstances, under any other than an absolute and despotic government.

These people are so vile. What's next?

Should we just do away with all laws against anything at all so nothing is criminal and everyone can do what they want without impunity? Oh shit, that might mean some of their favorite protected classes and such might get their asses kicked, including themselves. They think what they advocate will somehow cause peace but they forget that each person's will varies from one to the other. What they advocate truly is anarchy and chaos. No thanks!

And I guess they all are forgetting a very viable option when you, oh shit oops, go past the age of viability: ADOPTION! Why would a woman with no conscience to murder her unborn child have any about abandoning child to be raised by someone else(and no I don't see it that way, ,but this is the argument they bring up is it will be emotionally too heavy, but i say if killing a baby isn't too heavy for someone then neither should giving it away be too heavy either--this is all about walking away with nothing to jog one's conscientiousness
s and that's all and nothing more.)

Yeah, cuz she couldn't have decided to do this at an earlier date if she wanted to kill the baby. And she couldn't have gone to planned parenthood where they're all about finding ways for women to get free and discount abortions.

Abortion is the one multi-billion-dollar a year for-profit industry that can kill its customers and have Proglodytes demanding FEWER regulations rather than more.
