IRS Chain of Command Suggests Scandal Not Limited to 'Low-Level Employees'

After the IRS revealed it had wrongly targeted hundreds of conservative and Tea Party groups, the agency claimed that the misconduct was limited to "low-level employees" in its Cincinnati office. Yesterday, the attorney for Lois Lerner, the head of the IRS’s tax-exempt organizations division, told the House Oversight Committee she would invoke her Fifth Amendment rights, making that explanation much less credible.

Now the local Cincinnati Fox affiliate, FOX19, has done some digging and uncovered information suggesting that top officials at the IRS weren't too far removed from the six low-level employees identified as making unjustified inquiries. Fox19 has not only identified all six IRS agents in question, it turns out that they all have only one supervisor in common:  Cindy Thomas, the Program Manager of the Tax Exempt Division.

Cindy Thomas's name is significant, because Thomas is the woman who leaked nine tax documents to the journalism outlet ProPublica last year. The leaking of pending tax documents is a clear violation of the law.

The problem is that in all likelihood, no orders NEEDED to be given. As Rush has been saying all week, these shitbirds are all like-minded fellow travelers, and more to the point, they're all rabid Obama-fellaters who would do whatever they thought was necessary to garner positive attention from the HMFIC. So, in reality, Dear Leader had a private sit-down with the IRS union thug where he mentioned in passing, "gee, wouldn't it be nice if the IRS could pour a little bad news on the heads of all these racists out there?", and then she goes down from Mount Sinai and casually mentions the wistful desires of The Holy WON of Chit-cago into the ear of a couple of carefully selected and groomed acolytes, let them draw their own conclusions, and then everybody sat back and watched with glee as the conservatives' worst fears were realized.

Hate to say it, but what you're seeing is a government agency reorganized and radicalized under Alinsky's rules. Y'all can draw your own conclusions on what I think that means...

I'm sure there is a lot of that going on, as you would think someone would have blown the whistle on this practice before now.  However, it has come to light that four of the underlings who actively worked on these applications all used similar correspondence, yet they all had different supervisors. There has to be a directive from higher up.  The person who oversees the underlings' supervisors is Cindy Thomas, and she reports to Lois Lerner.

Conservative group’s lawsuit targets IRS employees personally

True the Vote is not only suing the IRS, but also taking action against the IRS employees who participated in the harassment of the voter education and election monitoring organization. Those employees could personally be held liable to pay damages that would be established in litigation.

True the Votes’ lead counsel, Cleta Mitchell, explained in an email to The Daily Caller that she does not know whether the employees, if found to be liable in the lawsuit True the Vote filed against the IRS and its employees Tuesday, would pay out of pocket or take other avenues such as accessing union funds or homeowners insurance. Either way, she noted, the group will pursue its action.
