The only thing in their minds is the mission, find anybody alive if they can. While at it, they are seeing things that will be in the back of their minds. It will not hit them until after the mission is over more likely. They will do their job, that goes for police and EMS as well as the Guard... It will be later. At times much later...that it will hit them. So if you know anybody in the business...and they chose to talk...listen...shut up and listen. They rarely do. And you know what? The other people getting, and already breaking down, are your local reporters. I gotta admit I rarely thought about them, but...they will also have a job to do...and chances are will break down later.

Methinks Nadin should take this advice herself on a daily basis, regardless of first responders or not. Just in general. Perhaps she'd get along better with folks.

AP - San Diego - An obese balding man died tragically today while caught in a raging backcountry wildfire. The man was trying to take photographs of the fire in an area where firefighters had warned citizens to evacuate. The man claimed to be a reporter with a local newspaper. San Diego county fire officials claimed that they had dealings with the deceased in the past and said they felt the man was a danger to himself and others. No record of the man working for any local newspapers and no press credentials exist for the man. "For lack of a better word, this individual was stalking the San Diego County Fire Department," said SDFD spokesman Tom Harriman, "kind of like a fireman's groupie, you get these loons from time to time, thinking they know how to be firemen or reporters or DEA agents in a drug war, they usually lose interest but this guy was persistent." No family has been contacted as it appears that the man was living out of a 1989 Toyota Corolla parked under a bridge in an industrial park.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson.
