Mon May 20, 2013, 11:46 AM DainBramaged (37,805 posts) " THE GOVERNMENT IS BUYING ALL THE BULLETS, i CAN'T GET BULLETS". This from someone at work who I thought was sane after seeing an article on line about the bullet shortage from where I don't know but it wound him up good. What do you mean you can't buy bullets? "Nobody's got bullets, the government's buying up all the bullets!" That didn't answer my question, but how many bullets do you have now? "I don't have enough and I can't get any no one can get any!" (At this point I realized he was becoming irrational, so I tried a different tact) How many bullets do you have now and what kind do you need? "It's a black powder gun, I shoot tin cans I can't buy bullets for it nobody has bullets, it's the government buying up all of the bullets" I turned and walked away. He was serious. You can't talk to a crazy person. You can't talk to a FAUX head. Government isn't buying bullets, it's another gun industry ploy and paranoia depleting supply and driving up prices.

The Denver Post, on February 15th, ran an Associated Press article entitled Homeland Security aims to buy 1.6b rounds of ammo, so far to little notice. It confirmed that the Department of Homeland Security has issued an open purchase order for 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition. As reported elsewhere, some of this purchase order is for hollow-point rounds, forbidden by international law for use in war, along with a frightening amount specialized for snipers. Also reported elsewhere, at the height of the Iraq War the Army was expending less than 6 million rounds a month. Therefore 1.6 billion rounds would be enough to sustain a hot war for 20+ years. In America.<snipped>
"The nation that couldn’t be conquered by foreign enemies has been conquered by its elected officials" odawg Free Republic in reference to the GOP Elites who are no difference than the Democrats

Gun shows in NJ, nope, we barely have gun stores. One that opened in Rockaway NJ back in the 90's closed for lack of demand. Most people don't own guns, except plinkers, that they can't find balls for......even at Cabella's.

jazzimov (459 posts)25. Well, OF COURSE the Government is buying bullets -Last edited Mon May 20, 2013, 10:27 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)we're in a f*cking war! At least, we're not in 2 wars in the same time. But it still means that the Government is spending a lot of coin on bullets.
There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
Do you mean to tell me that demand is such, that it can support all those gun stores at business-sustainable levels?
