A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying that the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”

The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps. He pointedly rejected Republican criticisms of the president’s actions and leadership style as “offensive” and “absurd,” and he said the administration would not be distracted from doing the nation’s business.

I loved that Schiefer on CBS asked why the admin didn't send the chief of staff instead of him. I guess that put the arrogant aide in his place. It's getting bad when even Bob Schiefer starts taunting them. The O administration has just pushed things too far.

The part that gets me about the quote is "trumped-up hearings and false allegations".

I'm sorry, what's false about there being 4 dead Americans, including an Ambassador, in Benghazi? Are they alive?

What's false about many Tea Party/conservative groups being scrutinized and/or harrassed by the IRS (and other federal agencies), in violation of the First Amendment? The IRS even admitted they did it in their apology.

What's false about the DOJ investigating reporters, in violation of the First Amendment?

What's false about the DOJ running guns to Mexican drug cartels which are used to murder at least one Border Patrol Agent? And then O claims executive privelege (which means he's either abusing his authority by covering crimes by underlings or in it up to his eyeballs).

What's trumped-up about hearings pursuant to Congress's Constitutional duty to provide oversight over the Executive Branch?
