Men who are physically strong are more likely to take a right wing political stance, while weaker men are inclined to support the welfare state, according to a new study.

Researchers discovered political motivations may have evolutionary links to physical strength.

Men's upper-body strength predicts their political opinions on economic redistribution, according to the research.

Professor Petersen said: ‘Our results demonstrate that physically weak males are more reluctant than physically strong males to assert their self-interest - just as if disputes over national policies were a matter of direct physical confrontation among small numbers of individuals, rather than abstract electoral dynamics among millions.’

However, the researchers found no link between upper-body strength and redistribution opinions among women.

I'm not sure this is phrased the proper way to be scientifically correct. I would phrase that physically weak are more likely to need others to take care of them, thus believers in the welfare state. I know some strong men that are liberals but in the last few years are becoming conservatives. Which I believe they always were but got conned into thinking like pussies..er...Liberal/leftist ideologues.

Oh, you ought to run over to the forum I was posting on.  It is a Republican forum, where the RINOs rule.  
There is one in particular, who professes to be a lawyer.   He HATES Social Conservatives.  Why?  Because he supports gay marriage, abortion for convenience, rails against Christians, while claiming to be one, and doesn't know jack about the Bible.   He is all for gun control. He agrees with Obamacare, and supported Justice Roberts "tax" decision.  
All the time, swearing to be more conservative than the rest of us.
The Mods protect the liberals.   They give infractions for calling them out.

I wipe my butt with pinecones (because who needs toilet paper besides Venezuela?) , I hunt animals with my .50 assault compound bow, I eat what I kill raw, I wrestle bears, and when I cry while watching manly movies like Patton I wipe my tears with the live bears I wrestled.

"Correlation does not equal causation".

It could be that people who are against a social safety net tend to be narcissistic sociopaths who have a higher tendency to work out their upper bodies in order to intimidate other people.
 
And obviously I am not saying that is so of all people who work out their upper bodies. I spend a lot of time in the gym and playing sports myself.

Yeah...I'm not sure the physical strength is what is operating directly here to produce that finding, I suspect that those with the physical strength are also more likely to be self-confident and independent, which is more likely the real correlative variable to the political views.
