ORLANDO, Fla. - State prosecutors in the case against George Zimmerman are pushing to keep Zimmerman's attorneys from bringing testimony about Trayvon Martin's past during the trial.

The state said in motions filed on Friday they want to prevent Zimmerman's attorneys from bringing up Martin's personal life, including his school records, previous suspension from school, fights, text messages sent prior to his death unless related to case and his social media use.

This should be in the trial. You cannot suppress anything in court.

Photo of Gun Retrieved From Trayvon Martin's Cell Phone

Defense attorneys for George Zimmerman have released new photos that they say will help prove their client's innocence in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. The murder case against Zimmerman is set to begin in just three weeks, and the Florida man's defense team has just released photos retrieved from Martin's phone. Some of those images were even taken on the night he was killed.

The defense also asked the judge to allow information on Trayvon's history of drug use to be admissible in the trial.

That looks exactly like the make/model gun I had stolen from my home in 2008.  And liberals think thugs and criminals get their guns from gun shows.

George Zimmerman's lawyers: Trayvon Martin’s texts talk about guns, marijuana

Data from the 17-year-old's cell phone was released Thursday by lawyers for George Zimmerman, whose second-degree murder trial for killing Martin begins next month.

In an exchange on Feb. 18, 2012, eight days before his death, he asks a friend if he or she has a gun.
