Did BlurNumbers walldude itself?

I changed someone's mind today...

Quote
So I have worked for a cable company for the last 3 weeks as sort of an in between to figuring out what I really want to do with my life. I got "let go" today, but I'm cool with it (I'm not good at high pressure sales). I should probably be upset, but I have a Master's degree and I was selling things for $10 and hour. But I digress... So I had a customer come up to me today and tell me that they had to have Fox News as a channel on their cable. I asked him why, and he says it is the only news source he watches. I was about to send him away when I just decided to ask him why. He tells me that it is what his family watched, so therefore that is what he grew up on. I then asked him who he voted for when it was the presidential election (he just turned 19 and was on his own). He actually told me he voted for Obama. When I asked him why, he said, to be honest, I have been on my own for a year now, and I can still get health insurance through my parents which would cost me way more on my own. I said, once again, why do you watch Fox News, they tell you that this is a bad thing... And he actually said, I think I don't care about them anymore. You just made a great point. And that was my one sign up for the day.

This bouncy doesn't even come close to making sense..

Blurnumbers is selling cable subscriptions.
FOX News is available on every cable TV platform as one of the basic channels.
Blurnumbers talks a client out of subscribing to Fox News, which can only be done by talking a potential client out of service altogether.
Blurnumbers claims this is his only sale for the day.

It's a well known fact that all Fox news viewers were raised on isolated compounds in the Dakota badlands where they were forced to watch O'Reilly 8 hours a day and have Rush Limbaugh piped into their bedrooms as they slept.

And of course, these ****ing idiots lap it right up...

The parents must be thrilled that the son can afford cable TV but will not pay for his own health insurance.

$10 says the son also has the following, Cell phone, X box game console with multi player subscription, Air Jordan sneakers, beer and travel money, etc.

In what?  Is it marketable?
I doubt it.
Kinda like having a PhD in something stupid like South American history.
Maybe the lad can get a job selling student loans.  :rotf:

This is a prime example of why reasonable people keep politics out of the work place.  A big part of sales is figuring out what the customer wants, then subtly encouraging them to go for the highest priced option that includes what they want  :whistling:  The appropriate response would have been, "Here are our options that include Fox News.  What other types of programs do you enjoy? I want to make sure that we find the option that you will be most satisfied with."

"Only sale of the day."  Yeah, no wonder they're letting him go.

Yes, and the only customer he had, he harangued and asked personal questions of.  I'd fire him on the spot.

And he almost didn't get that customer!
