URBANA -- School district leaders are speaking up after a teacher admits to sexually assaulting a student. Police say the teacher performed sex acts on a 16-year old.

45-year old Tammy Bond was arrested Wednesday and formally arraigned on six felony counts Thursday. WCIA-3's Megan Brilley has more.

Investigators say Bond started tutoring the victim then began the molestation. In court, she admitted to performing oral sex on him 10-15 times. It's something those around her never saw coming.

Bond has been a special needs teacher for the past four years. When she started, a newspaper piece was written, raving about her excellent and nurturing teaching methods.

But this week, it all came crashing down. Police say the victim's mother found out he and Bond had been spending time together outside of school.

"At that point, it became a police investigation."

UNFORNATIONATE OCCURENCE, She is such a loving woman and a really sweet person. 

Well perhaps her teaching methods are a bit unusual  and a tad before their time.   Way this is going, teachers  like her will be the main reason to stay in school and not drop out.
