An independent casting company is looking to recruit a CBC Kids Host of “any race except Caucasian”.  The company, Larissa Mair Casting & Associates, has since deleted the offensive Craigslist call, but here’s a screenshot:

Not so strange back in 1967-68 I was watching the Miss America Pageant and the contestant from NH was a beautiful black woman.  Like to have fell off my chair, back in that time the State had perhaps  250 blacks living here.

Why hasn't this been all over the news
Voting for Obama for a second term would be like the captain of the Titanic backing into the iceberg again

Because the ad didn't say "No black (or brown) people"
You may call me Jessica or Jess.

Because it's Canada and no one cares.

Do they have people of color in Canada? I didn't think they liked the cold.

Your floor's day-room probably didn't have a very good set.  She just looked black.

I've watched several CBC comedies and they had few blacks on them.  Most minorities I've seen on their shows were Indian.

The first sitcom I remember where there were Blacks in the cast was Dick Van Dike and two really funny shows ---one where Rob thought their new baby was switched in the hospital and the other where he Rob and Laura accidentally dyed their hands black and had to go give a speech for the NAACP.

Then Dick Clark that went from a dance show with all White kids to the early 60's shows with only black dancers.  I have to admit I was more impressed with the later shows and the dancing was much more fun then all snooty white kids.  Darn those kids were sure having more fun then us whites with a stiff spine and blank look on our faces.

:lmao:   Back in 62 I went on a Church group to DC.     Coming down from NH we noticed some strange things we never saw as Yankees.

First thing I noticed was at the rest stop restaurants there were two lines. One had only colored people at it the other line I was in were all white.  Then I at one stop needed to use the bathroom, signs over the doors read White and Colored.   What was I to know a ignorant Yankee thought the colored bathroom meant the decoration of the place.   So I wandered in to find a regular rest stop and when I was leaving a couple of woman came to me to ask what in heck I was doing in there.

Mind you I was on a Church trip and I asked the adults what was going on, I was 14 + at the time I believe.   Southern Baptist  trip and no one would tell me anything, and both my Aunt and Uncle were chaperone's and they just mumbled at me something about States rights and I was too young to understand.

This was what was to fuel my fascination with different cultures and find there is really no difference but religion or politics.   I could now not wait to meet someone very different from myself, I found that the woman had the same concerns for their children as I did, and the men working to raise their children and protect their family's were no different from my family.

Then LBJ came on the scene and I watched as family's were destroyer and what good intentions lead to he road to hell not just for the Black community but White and many others.
