Reid: More funding needed to prevent ObamaCare from becoming 'train wreck'

By Alexander Bolton - 05/01/13 05:45 PM ET

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says he shares colleagues’ concerns that the Affordable Care Act could become a “train wreck” if it’s not implemented properly.

“Max said unless we implement this properly it’s going to be a train wreck, and I agree with him,” Reid said, echoing a warning delivered last month by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.).

Reid warned the federal government is not spending enough money to implement the law because of Republican opposition to ObamaCare.

“The president is taking money — I wish we had the money just to do this on its own, but he’s agreed, he’s determined he’s going to take money from some of the other things that he feels are less important in the healthcare bill and put it on letting you and others know what’s in the bill,”

Many conservatives have criticized the law as a government takeover of the healthcare industry.

Reid disagrees with this view but he conceded Wednesday that the executive branch has grabbed too much power in Washington and suggested a requirement that all laws be allowed to expire after 10 years to give Congress an opportunity to reevaluate them.

Reid pledged to live under the rules of the Affordable Care Act that apply to ordinary citizens.

Reid acknowledged, however, that he is negotiating with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to alter the law’s treatment of congressional staff.

Isn't it a bit odd that the very same assclown that sold the low information slaves this bullshit law by saying it was "deficit neutral", or it was going to "save money" is now bitching that he needs more money?  Or is it just me?

Friends, when the author of this pile of dung (Max Baucus) and the Senate Majority leader call obinga's signature piece of legislation a "train wreck", you know it's not gonna last.  If Bohnner does one thing right, just one thing, it would be to sit on this until the screaming reaches a fevered pitch and put the full repeal bill back through the House.  Make that skinny little clown put it to a vote in the full Senate and make obinga kill his own monster.

I still think Roberts was playing the long game last year and I firmly believe he set up the lib shitheads for a self checkmate - if the House GOP leadership plays the game right.

Yeah, that's what'll fix something that basically nationalized one-sixth of the economy--MORE MONEY.

And how well has that worked in, say, eliminating poverty, education, and pensions for the elderly so far there, Harruh?

I still think Roberts was playing the long game last year and I firmly believe he set up the lib shitheads for a self checkmate - if the House GOP leadership plays the game right.

You're assuming that there IS any leadership in the GOP.  Well, they might have the titles, but they sure aren't showing leadership.

I thought it was a fat down the middle pitch for Romney (Obama raising taxes on everybody) but as we now know Mitt had other ideas.  :argh:

God help us if Bonehead is going to negotiate with this little twerp. We are getting ready to get the shaft again.

My doctor told me that it will cost him $68,000 dollars to implement Obamacare. Not only that but doctors are being told how much they will be reimbursed for Medicare, and as the number of visits by a patients goes up in a certain time period the amount that the gov. pays goes down.

Reid must have been listening to Rush.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

I don't believe that because that is not what happened.  He didn't rubber stamp it, he called the "fine" what it was - a tax.  Taxes are the purview and responsibility of the HOR and that's where he left the door open to kill the monster, but he's going to make the idiots that drafted the law do the dirty work themselves.

Watch a lot of doctors and patients opt out of the system.  Cash basis only too.

My doctor has had a sign on her counter for a long time about not taking medicare patients.  SS was a pain for her before the unafordable health care act,  I bet she won't even stay in practice now with Obamacare.

What a miserable ugly law for everybody

Add another name to the list of "prominent" democrats that are now starting to distance themselves from this POS - Senior Senator from the State of New York, Charles "Schmucky" Schumer:

Quote
Rochester, N.Y. (CBS DC) – Sen. Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat and longtime backer of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, said that insurance rates are likely to spike – and “Obamacare” is partly to blame.

“It’s in part because of Obamacare, but health care costs have been going up in double digits for years and years and years."

...and the comments section at The Hill explodes.  1,461 so far, and not even the moonbats have swarmed in to defend the piece of shit (both the bill and Reid).

I just don't see how this thing can end up standing.  Nobody understands it, and you know how many profoundly stupid people we have in this country.  Anybody who approves of it is under the impression that it's freeeeeee and on-demand.  Implementing it requires some pretty extensive education of the birdbrained public, if you can pry them out of their celebrity worship.  It also requires universal compliance.  I can see massive civil disobedience on the horizon.

Starting in October they have to fill out a three page application for the state/federal insurance exchange.  Then come next Jan. they have to list their proof of insurance on their tax return or pay a fine.

I think next year is going to be very interesting.

I think that will get pushed back a little because 2014 will an election year......can't be having an election with the electorate pissed off at Obama and the democrats.

From what I have read, still in draft form, the Medicaid recipients will have to fill out a 10 page form. That is going to be some funny shit there cause most low income and no income citizens can not fill a simple 1040EZ Federal income tax form. H & R Block should make a killing.

A major part of Obamacare kicks in Jan 1, 2014. If the HOR do not appropriate millions for new employees, I can not see how this tax can be implemented. This is going to be a massive undertaking hiring many new government employees. I betcha this is going to be such a f...up that doctors and hospitals will not take insurance claims of any kind because of the idiots running the accounting department. Remember the disbursement foul up of the cars for clunkers. Now multiply that by 100,000.

There is no achievable level of funding that will keep it from becoming a trainwreck.  Obamacare is like Boston's Big Dig times 1,000.

It's already on your W-2, under block 10 DD, IIRC.  Just wait until they start taxing that.
