Local woman killed in saloon shooting
Two innocent bystanders were shot during a bar fight late Friday. An Ely woman is dead and one man was hospitalized following a shooting at The Broken Bit Saloon on Aultman Street.
Yellow tape warning anyone who happens along that The Broken Bit Saloon is a crime scene and not to attempt to enter remains two days after two people were shot inside the bar, one fatally. The yellow tape remained in place until Monday morning.
Donald Rainey has cuts above his left eye that Sheriff Dan Watts said were from a struggle when patrons at the Broken Bit Saloon wrestled him to the ground and got his guns away from him.

The White Pine County Sheriff's Department identified the victim as Tresia L. Schessler, 57, of Ely. She was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a shotgun blast.
“There was a fight earlier and he was thrown out of the bar,†Watts said. “He came in about 45 minutes later with a shotgun and a pistol.â€
Armed with a 12-gauge shotgun and a .22 -caliber pistol, Rainey fired once in the air with the shotgun just outside the entrance to the bar. Watts said the bartender immediately called 911. The sheriff's dispatcher received the call at 11:22 p.m.
Rainey then entered the bar and three patrons attempted to get the gun away from him. Watts said the shotgun discharged and the brunt of the blast struck Schessler in the stomach area. Two pellets struck a man the sheriff's department would not identify. Watts said the man's injuries were not life threatening and that he had been treated and released at William Bee Ririe Hospital.
