Some speculation, informed by what we know so far

Since it is speculation...please take this with a huge grain of salt...not even those close to the investigation have a full picture yet.

First, placement of devices was close to the ground, and used the buildings to shape the frce of the wave.

Or maybe the perp was walking.

This I can say with a high degree of confidence due to injury types.

The rest not so much.

I believe this is internal.

Proving a conspiracy will be hard.

The fact that we have no claim to fame almost dismisses an international connection, not the MO of insert terror group here, but also makes me wonder if this was more effective than expected and the terrorists are scared out of their minds...this would point to amateur hour.

You just got done saying proving a conspiracy would be hard.

If only you had stopped here.

The rest, really, as to motive and all that, we lack hard facts.

Pressure cookers – possibly activated remotely by a cellphone – are believed to have been used to make the crude bombs that sent deadly shrapnel hurling into a crowd of onlookers and competitors at Monday’s Boston Marathon, experts told Fox News.

Doctors treating some of the 176 injured victims believe the explosives were packed with deadly shrapnel, including pellets, nails and sharp metallic objects – with some patients having “40 or more” such fragments embedded in their bodies.

I'm not the bomb expert that Nadin is but...

Gunpowder and such work better when tightly compressed. Unroll a firecracker and you'll see it flare where one tightly rolled explodes.

With the lid of a pressure cooker tightly sealed it will give the requisite pressure to hurl its shrapnel at greater force. Then just pack it in a bag surrounded with nails, BBs etc.

Here's a picture of one.  The sizes vary and the locking mechanism can be a little different but you get the idea.

Snugs nailed the why's perfectly.

In Afghanistan they bury them in the ground and use them like land mines.

A politically motivated attack is going to go after political/government targets, like McVeigh and the Murrah building.  A politically motivated attack is not likely to happen at the Boston Marathon.  Tax Day/Patriots Day had nothing to do with it.  Nothing about the location of the attack lends itself to the idea (even if you accept the idea that conservatives are violent... :whatever:) that it was a Tea party attack, which is what nadin wanted to claim, but knew better than saying it.

I have a pressure cooker and I can not figure out how one can be placed for more then a few moments off the heat to explode.

I have seen these things unattended blow up in kitchens, right straight up to the ceiling.  They do not blow outward but up and pea soup is amazing when the top goes through the roof.

So they are just packed with gun powder?  Then how is it detonated?

An article I saw today said the instructions on the al Qaeda website "Inspire" suggests a string of X-mas lights (I knew I hated Christmas for a reason). That would make sense as they could be packed inside the powder to provide a through and through ignition. Powered by a big enough battery whose circuit is connected by a cellphone call it would be cheap, easily acquired and effective.

A cell phone linked to a detonator of some kind set to go off when the call goes through. Which is what the cops are looking at. Now I guess we got the crunchy newz from El Guapo the world can finally rest knowing Inspector Gadget is on the job.

A few years ago I built a fireworks control box for our local block Fourth of July parties, 25 numbered momentary switches and with the flip of a lever you got another 25.  The momentary switch sent a signal out from the control box to a wireless relay at each mortar station which contained a 9 volt battery and a Estes model rocket igniter, that was the ignition source.

In later years I improved upon it by adding a Labview program that could control the launch automatically to music.

I had a 6qt cooker explode on me when I didn't pay enough attention to notice that the pressure relief valve didn't open. What a mess that pork roast made. Took me all day to clean it up.

Hey nadin.

Shut the **** up.

You're not qualified to speculate upon why an egg breaks when it's dropped, much less upon something like this.

Damned stupid arrogant broad, who thinks she knows shit.

Just sit back and let those who know something about things, do the speculating.

Anything Nads does is speculation, that DUmbass doesn't have the brain power to comprehend the most basic explosive train.

Once the FBI replicates the device from all recovered pieces, and believe me they will find every piece to each device, we'll have a better understanding of who, and what we are up against.

Until then I wish the left, the media (kinda of redundant), and the Nads would shut the **** up.

Let's not speculate as to who is behind this. It will take a while to earn what, who and why.
