The lone wolves may not have the same effect as a major planned and coordinated attack, but they have the effect of diverting resources away from the organization. It's like the Italian mob. The timing of the blasts is odd, there were still 5,000 runners in the race so would not an explosion to cause max damage have been better to wait for a larger bunch of runners to come along later
I wonder at the motive and the placement of the devices, how they were transported there, how they were set up with our someone seeing the activity.
We have volunteered to do Logistics for our marathons in the next town and seen some, not all of the workings. For a race of perhaps 1500+ people it takes a large amount of people to volunteer to do 1101 things. I cannot equate how much planning and time and coordination with the Police and the public it takes to have a marathon of this size go on.
The Perps had to have some kind of inside knowledge about the event either first hand or know someone who was involved in some way.
Then why this particular event, I can understand if this was done at a SF Gay Parade, Oh Lord the mess that would have caused.
