  The veterans group had flown the flag, used by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps since 1775, at the New Rochelle Armory, but the city council claimed it was an offensive Tea Party symbol and voted to have the flag removed.

A group of retired Marines is asking Connecticut's attorney general to allow the "Don't Tread on Me" Gadsden flag to fly over the state Capitol on July 4 after Capitol Police refused the request saying it doesn’t fall within the state’s flag flying parameters.

Democrats don't like history especially when it makes them look stupid.

  The US Navy's first mission took them to the Bahamas to capture British ammunition and gunpowder stored there. Commodore Hopkins with his sailors and marines captured Fort Nassau at the Battle of Nassau in a bloodless victory. This means the first flag carried into battle by the United States Marines and the first amphibious assault conducted by the US Navy were both carried out under the Gadsden Flag.
