Oh my.

The cooking and baking forum's been rather dreary lately, because Her Ladyship Lu has laid down on the job of stimulating discussion there, and the cbayer primitive's off on a trip; I think she's visiting one of her two sons in Texas, but I dunno if this is the son she likes, or the son who had to be scared straight.

Watermelon with cinnamon and mint

If this was illegal I'd be out cruising for a connection.

Sliced or cubed watermelon pieces, liberally dusted with cinnamon and mint. Turned once and let set.

Served room temp as a side or as part of a dessert.

1. Can you be more specific about what you do with the mint?

Do you use dried mint?

2. Just standard off-the-shelf dried mint flakes.

Same with the cinnamon. Standard store bought stuff. Came out simply killer, though.

The queenly regal Her Ladyship Lu does show up here, but believe, it's a rare condescension of hers:

3. Very interesting! I usually hit mine with a little citrus - it boosts the "watermelon" taste...but cinnamon is a new one for me!

5. Sounds weird but worth a try.

Hopefully I'll remember it when watermelon season comes around!

Edited to add... I have a nice apple mint growing in my garden, I'll bet some of that crushed up would be a complimentary mint with this. It grew with the honeydew melons and infused them with a nice flavor. Maybe I'll grow the watermelon with the mint this year and try adding the cinnamon alone. Hmmm....

Watermelon is so good, why ruin it by adding stuff to it?

I wonder too.

It freaks me that one of the most popular drive-in drinks around here is some concoction, "cherry limeade."

The primitive pinto is just rubbing it in the faces of the other primitives that they can afford to buy out-of-season fruits and vegetables.

Does it make the watermelon taste better, primitive pinto, knowing that a fellow primitive, the ladyliberty primitive, can't even scratch together $20 to rent a steam cleaner?

Exactly. Pretty stupid.
