car dealerships and haggling

I am going to a car dealership today and they have "No haggle price" on the listing.  Does that mean they won't haggle?

yeah pretty much I think, my brother took me to a dealership to look at a truck.

I found oil on the bottom of the truck but it didn't influence the asking price for the truck.

Don't let that talk you out of trying to make a deal though, there is always some room.

Typically, no.  But then again, you know what you're getting into up front.

And no, don't take THEIR gap coverage if you're buying new.  Get it through your bank/credit union.  They charge about half what a dealer does.

I get 5 or 6 quotes from dealers on the Internet before I buy any new car.

Look up realistic pricing for the car you are looking at. Sometimes it pays to go to the Fleet sales instead. And, no, I would still haggle.

I am finding vehicles I like on the internet.  I am emailing them asking what is the price and they keep emailing me back saying "When can you come in for a test drive". Do they not know that I am an angry redhead and just asked what the damn price was?  :rant: Holy SHITE they don't know how mad that makes me.

I'm at least 2.5 years away from purchase of my next car (preferably a year old), but I've already started looking. The Nissan Pathfinder is looking pretty damned good - 2016 model, of course.

Of course, a lot can happen between now and then. But I've started to look.

I tend to keep cars a long time. My current car is a 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan, purchased in Nov. 2003. It's got 195,000 miles on it and it's still going strong -- but in another 30K or so, I'll be getting a little nervous about its reliability.

A few years back my wife and I went to a dealership looking for a work truck. I told the salesman that I wanted something for work that was old and cheap that I wouldn't worry about beating the hell out of. He said, "We have this one that is only a couple of years old and still under warranty for $15,000." I told him that he didn't understand. That I was looking for something for work that was old and cheap that I wouldn't worry about beating the hell out of. That I didn't want anything new and shiny. He said, "Okay, we've got this one that is just a year old and is fully loaded for $20,000."

I didn't say anything else to him. I just walked away and left him talking to my wife. When my wife got to the car she asked why I rudely walked away without saying anything. I told her that it wouldn't have mattered if I said anything because he apparently could NOT understand English, and I had no intention of buying a vehicle from a salesman who can't understand English.

In my life I've encountered only one car sales person that I like. The last couple of vehicles that we've bought have been from her.

Good luck on dealing for a car.  Car salesmen do seem a bit dense when it comes to haggling.  I have patience on my side.  I'll look, talk, and leave if I don't like the deal.  I hate it when they offer a decent price and then try adding crap on.  Do that twice and when I show up they stop wasting my time and we can get to a bottom line.  At least that's how it's gone the last couple new cars I've bought. 

I'm fine with them making a profit.  I make a profit in my business, but I'm not going to subsidize the whole outfit!

Just bought a '07 Ford from a very small independent just north of Cleveland (TX), a month ago.
Old retired guy that buys good cars at auction.  Does it to keep busy and make a few bucks.
Interesting old guy.  I've run up there a couple times to just sit and drink coffee.
The car had 58k actual miles, and he sold it for under BB and Edmunds trade value for condition.
Not retail value, trade-in value.
