I live on $710.00 a month, what exactly am I supposed to cut?
by Horace Boothroyd III

My rent is a reasonable $209.00 because I have a HUD Cube. For how long?, who knows?

That leaves me with $501.00

Phone $35.00 a month.

That leaves me with $466.00

Internet is $45.00 dollars a month.

That leaves me with $421.00

My medication is $50.00 a month, counting bare bones OTC care too.

That leaves me with $371.00

Pootie care is another $50.00 a month-not including vet and tag costs.

That leaves me with $321.00

I had to borrow $140.00 last month because the vet bill the previous month left me behind.

That leaves me with $181.00

With that I'm expected to feed myself for a month. But also maintain grooming standards with products for me because of my skin sensitivities and allergies are extremely expensive. I make what I can to avoid allergens and to reduce costs but there are many things I can't make. Toothbrushes, toilet paper, trash bags, many cleaning products. I try to get clothes from the discount store, or thrift stores. Shoes too, I should be getting special ones but I lack the fortitude to break the HMO bureaucratic maze to get them. But shoes are a large recurring expense for me because I do walk so much.

I also have learned to cook everything I eat from scratch. Again because of finances and allergies. But food is not inexpensive. I can drink the generic coffee at $12.00 a can and I can buy bulk size foods at the restaurant supply. But by the end of the first week it is usually doubtful I will have more than one hundred dollars left.

Today after getting all things covered, with the exception of some food stuffs I'm just going to have to go without.

I have a grand total of $18.00.

No worries. I get to start all over again on the first.

But what exactly am I being wasteful with?

And more importantly after thirty years of 'compassionate' conservatism don't you think it is time for some Humanism instead?

Get rid of phone and internet and that is $80.
Get rid of "pootie" I'm guessing that is a pet of some kind that's another $50 a month, plus you won't have to borrow for vet bills.

But I might be wrong and if so, that ****ing sucks. :'(

Other than the cost of everything going up because of all the "help" 0bama has been giving us.

This thread is full of people who say they only get $700 a month too.
These are supposed to be the brightest people in the universe and so many of them are so poor they can barely afford their DU stars.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

That's one thing that really gripes me about these leeches. They are surviving, and in a lot of cases thriving, because of those of us who are working for a living. Those of us who work for a living are having to cut back on our spending, in part, because of the money that is taken from us to give to the leeches. The leeches, on the other hand, don't think that they should have to cut back on anything.

If you can't afford the vet, you can't afford a pet.
Find a new home for "Pootie".
Then, ditch the net connect.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Pootie would probably appreciate a new home. Can you imagine being poor Pootie and constantly realizing that you're the most intelligent one in the room when your owner is home?

Also what about a job?  If this is SS, your allowed to earn up to 12-15k a year.

See, that makes sense.  When you're living on bare-bones, things like a phone, internet, and pets are wants, not needs.  Try telling that to the simpleminded libs (pardon the redundancy) and they flip out.  Just like when Kirk was here, the idea of getting rid of the cats wasn't even an option.  He even put the cats in the "need" catagory, which makes absolutely no sense.  But that's how screwed up they are.  It's up to others to provide for their wants as well as their needs.

Even on the thread at the island, the primitives are talking about the phone, internet, and pet as though they are necessities in life, as if they were no longer there the person would fall over dead.  Liberals as so stupid.

What's this "work" of which you speak? /DUmmieMode

I have another question. Why is that if you drive past a government housing project you see either nice, new cars or cars with expensive custom paint jobs and expensive custom wheels with expensive tires?

"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

More demonstration that the DUches have the mind of a five year old.

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I don't know where this OP lives, but according to it's numbers, in Washington State, this DUmmie would qualify for $125 per month in food stamps.

What about food pantry's, churches, community gardens etc.?

Another thing the OP said was that it "walks a lot", which sounds like it could do some kind of work to supplement it's income.

I think this is a troll trying to stir things up among the pinheads at Kos.

"Pootie"?

20% of income to pet costs?

High speed internet?

"shoes are a large recurring expense for me because I do walk so much."

Please.

And what's a "HUD Cube"? Some kind of storage crate for winos?

last October, my wife and I took a trip to Washington DC. We drove thru an area with government housing and saw obama lawn signs everywhere and a TV sattelite dish on every housing unit.

It more than likely is getting food stamps--just not including that little factoid in its woe-is-me tale. So--besides the SS, this waste of skin is costing the taxpayers for food stamps, housing subsidy, probably Medicaid, and who-knows-what other little goodies.

Even after several years of 'hope and change', they still are hoping they won't have to change their long time affection for redistribution of assets, where the government takes stuff away from others so they can have it without actually working for it.
This too shall pass.

Kpete, why don't you start a tax exempt foundation, take up collections to help out people like this, and then give yourself a $300,000/year salary out of the donations you get?
