NRA certificates for both Lanzas

Now that is the worst case scenario if you are the NRA.

Have fun Mr. LaPierre with that small nuke.

When I heard that today, I knew the DUmpmonkeys would be all giddy over that.

1. Why? NRA is not the Lanza. NRA ever claimed to do background checks on attendees

of its training programs?

The NRA will have no more trouble sidestepping this, than my HS driving instructor did when I drove a 2 x 8 into a rice paddy.

The NRA certificates the police found in the house likely had nothing to do with formal NRA membership -- they were possibly awarded for completion of training and safety courses that had been certified by the NRA, the nation's largest gun safety training organization. According to its website, the NRA doesn't offer formal certificates for membership.

Of course a good journalist would have researched that.

5. Actually, the worst case scenario for the NRA would be if they're shown to have been members.

As others have pointed out, the certificate doesn't mean that.

Other than the field day the press would have, it doesn't mean a damn thing. Anyone with the money and who fills out the forms can be a member of the NRA. Just like any other political group. The NRA can no more control what their members do than $kimmer can control what you goons do.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

I heard on the news today the NRA has no record of either Lanza as members.

Not that it makes a hill of beans either way but maybe it'll take the wind out of some of the DUmmies sails.

Certificate my rosy red arse.
It was a standard bulk mailing looking for new members.
Bloody damn idiots.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Doesn't matter what the truth is, once the connection has been established, even if false, they will continue to run with it. So will the media.

The MSM doesn't care. They know that a lie will travel halfway around the world before the truth is known. The damage will be done.

There is no wall-hanger "certificate" confirming NRA membership, only a membership card. I'm a life NRA member.

I can't imagine how much junk mail a life member must receive.

Even then, what do they care about truth?  Put the two words together, in any context or no context, and watch the helmet children start to drool and rage.

Card and a window sticker, is all I ever got.  I wasn't a life member, though.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.

My experience was late '70s, early '80s, before e-mail. At that time there was no escape. Half of it wasn't NRA itself, but Neil Knox, ILA, Whittington Center, NRA mail-order merchandise, NRA credit cards, NRA travel, NRA insurance, NRA political candidates, etc., etc., piles of junk nearly every day. You can't put a spam filter on snail mail.  I finally didn't renew, and the volume increased, until it finally petered out after maybe five years.

And that was back in the dark ages before algore invented the internet, and the big markets in addresses and email lists didn't exist.

I believe in NRA objectives, but I probably wouldn't join again if they paid me.

Mid-Late 80s, same thing.  Real turn-off.  I felt that I wanted to re-up, but I positively despise crap mail and it was continuous.  Stuff kept coming up til about 92-93, IIRC.
