By now I am sure most of you have learned that Lanza was an Aspie. What I suspect is that most of you do not realize an Aspie doing what Lanza did is not jus rare, but extremely rare.

We have people on this site who happen to be somewhere on the spectrum, whether add or ADHD or other presentations. At this point they might even feel they do not want to deal with the world due to Lanza.

To you I extend my hand. I suspect there is far more to Lanza than just the Aspergers spectrum...

Some of us do get it.

Loss of social contact is common with many people with mental illness, and degrees of social contact is a criterion on various modifications of the Assessment for Global Function. It isn't by itself an indication of a personality disorder.

I haven't read anything about his mother's gun ownership being associated with any mental illness. If you have a link to something about that, I'd like to read it.

Actually, no, but one can't expect everybody to "get" something from the 1920s.

If you'll notice nadin claims to 'get' a lot. Every time you turn around she's claiming that she gets some 'it' or the other.

I have to wonder how true that really is.

She's one of the long-term, high-post-count DUmmies. She acts like she's one of the pillars of DU. Despite this, only a third (if that many) of the DUers take her serious. A third (if that many) just try to not pay her any attention. And another third (probably much more than that) despise her and find her to be an arrogant loon who doesn't know a fraction of what she thinks she knows, but she keeps right on posting like she's the queen bee.

That looks like someone who is deluded to me. How much can one who is deluded really "get"?

Speaking of flippers, the Las Vegas Leviathan and his size 15EEEEEE flipper feet has been absent for a loong time.

Not to point out the obvious but Aspergers or not, what occurred at Sandy Hook was extremely rare. Almost by definition, anyone who could shoot 20 kids in cold blood would qualify as a disturbed individual. Whether being an aspie contributed to the mental state that resulted in this heinous crime is almost impossible to determine, just like the fact that he played violent first person shooter video games may or may not have had an impact. Clearly this was one ****ed up kid and there were signs that should have been acted upon prior to the event occurring. But it didn't happen and it's doubtful that playing Monday morning QB will yield much of any value.
