Authorities have arrested a man wanted in the assault of a convenience store clerk that was recorded by security cameras.

The Metro Area Fugitive Task Force took Roger D. Janis, 55, into custody Tuesday without incident, Bellevue police said.

Janis is suspected of punching a female clerk twice in the face outside the Tobacco Hut, 4011 Harrison St. The incident, which was caught on video, occurred March 6.

Bastard slugs a girl half his size in the face, twice.

Ugly DUmmy Warpy just thinks he's sad. She kind of likes the cut of his jib.

After reading her apology for the thug, I was shocked to see he wasn't black.

1. This whole thing is just sad

he might be an OK guy once they get him dried out and cleaned up. It's good he's going to be off the street until that happens.

I hope the clerk wasn't injured severely and that she feels better soon. Nobody deserves to be punched like that out of the blue.

All this, after Ugly's first comment, quoted above:

3. Gack. He was pretty sadistic with that clerk.

I don't disagree that it's sad and hope he dries out, but the guy's got deeper problems. He set her up, blocked the door, and just dry-gulched her. Twice. Nasty piece of work.

4. I don't know about that

In my opinion (and from being around a few of those kinds of assholes), a guy who will punch a woman in the face is pretty much beyond redemption.

5. Dunno, I had a drunken uncle who was total violence to the point that one of my earliest childhood memories is of being shoved under a bed by one of his kids and told to stay there until he left. Once he was thrown in jail and left there until he agreed to do the AA thing and dried out, he gradually turned into quite a nice guy.

It was a bit late for his older kids, they're all messes. However, he did redeem himself with everyone else. He not only hit women, he hit kids. Once he dried out, he didn't hit anyone.

2. What an asshole. Sharp dresser, too.

There should be some ordinance regarding dressing like that.

There's gotta be some sort of ordinance against looking like Hollis, too.

Why does Steve always insist on posting local news in the GD?

Why, just the other day, a coupla guys got into an argument at the Stewart's shop just 1/4 mile away.  One bitched at the other for some parking issue, the other guy whammed his car into the other's, then they got out of their cars and just started whaling on each other.  Noontime, too.  Not a drunken brawl.

You don't see me posting local news in our forums.   :-)

Omaha Steve is trying to out-Nadin the oblate spheroid in the "local news DUmmies should know" department.

I suspect their dueling posts are actually coded love notes between them. A little game they like to play; foreplay, you might say.

Thanks for that mental image.  :-)

I'd need enough mind bleach to fill every stinkin' KC-10 that the US Air Force has ever flown to get rid of that image.

An odd couple for sure.

Both are morbidly obese, but the weeper is a big guy, while the nutcase has the height and physique of a jack-o-lantern.

I won't  believe anything's going on until we start reading about vacant-lot grassfires in Bellevue.

Well, as long as only a few of his children were "messes" guess that makes it just peachy! Because people who are messes NEVER pass that on to their children, who then pass it on to their children! So really, the fact that the rest of his family might be "okay", well that's all that matters. And we certainly can't blame him for becoming an alcoholic in the first place or not getting help (for the sake of his family) BEFORE he was forced to to get treatment. What's most important is that "he gradually turned into quite a nice guy". Twisted DUmmie compassion. It's the alcoholic, not those he abused and victimized, the people whose lives he ruined, that deserves sympathy, applause and redemption. Got it.

I think that I've been fairly forthcoming about my alcoholic struggles, on the board.  As I see it, my alcoholism (almost 3 1/2 years sober) was/is a product of my choices.  The people, the places, the things that I choose to be with/around.  As I watch The Heiress (who has been quite vocal in her desire for a little sister) grow, she scares me at times--she's just like me.  I fear that my alcoholism will manifest itself in her being an alcoholic.  The things that I have control over are me, myself, and I.  So, I try to provide the best possible example for her to follow.  It's all I can do.  Hopefully, she'll decide to pattern herself after the recovering alcoholic of the present, and not the active alcoholic of my past.
