Oh my.

You know, the primitives have been lagging in production of inventory for the DUmpster lately; it's getting harder and harder to find decent material on Skins's island.  I wonder if we offered the primitives some sort of "incentive bonuses," if that might spur them on to more production?

Just got back from helping out with a car accident.

There's a back road with a nasty-ass S curve just over the hill across the street. Fortunately nobody was hurt, but the cars weren't in great shape. People fly through there and accidents are common. I had "CAUTION" tape and some orange cones so we took those down to the road, draped the tape around the cars, across the road and at each end of the S curve but people were STILL flying down the road. It took about 30 of us to keep things sane directing traffic and the cops took forever to show up.

After we had a cop car on either end my daughter and I headed back home. Shortly afterward a firetruck showed up. I'll assume they were able to handle it from there. It's a really terrible place to have an accident, but if you're going to have one on that road, that's the place it's going to happen. It's also the place on the road where critters get offed by cars. I go through there at about 20 mph (tops).

So, my back is killing me, my pickled egg had to wait, my afternoon beverage is warm, and I had to pause "Foxtrot" to deal with the situation. Speaking of which, I need another couple of ice cubes. The caution tape and cones get quite a workout around here, unfortunately.

To the best of my knowledge nobody has been killed on that curve, but it's just a matter of time. The nice thing is that when there's an accident it's ALL HANDS ON DECK in our neighborhood. Even people I don't particularly like (and for whom the feeling is mutual) come together to help out. I call that "being human".

30 people to direct traffic? This is a rural area correct?

Gag  :whatever:

When we lived in CA my husband and daughter were driving on the highway and were almost rear ended when the person behind him came within inches of running in the back of him. The driver of that car was rear ended by someone who was rear ended by another car. My husband got out of his car and helped the woman in the middle of the wreck and got her daughter out of the car and made sure everyone was alright. Waited for the police to get there and gave his statement as to what happened. Two of the three drivers hit their heads and were bleeding and the little girl had the wind knocked out of her from the seatbelt.

He only told me about, not the people he worked with or a message board full of idiots. He didn't bitch about his drink being warm or having to wait on his pickled egg because of his heroic act either.

A bunch of DUmmies directing traffic.  It probably looked like this.

The OP brought this to mind. Apparently is is not a liberal trait.

Quote
"Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven. "Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Matthew 6:1-4
"My enemy's enemy is the enemy I kill last."
Klingon Proverb.
