I have actually heard of more then one "nail shop owner" say that the Asians put them out of biz....

I think it's just more of a competition thing....the Asian shops on every corner just made it more affordable for those that never had used the services in the past....it's all good.

my husband has this idea that there is some nail salon monopoly somewhere that only hires asian women and sends them around the country to staff the places. here it's like Starbucks, every strip mall has a nail place..

I guess I don't understand this thing with you ladies.
My wife is always going to the pedicure, manicure, lip wax bikini wax, etc.

She's paying people to do this.

Why?

I have a belt sander, duct tape and a hot glue gun.  We could save a lot of $$.

hey, we're doing our part to keep this economy rolling :-)

Another trick: use that vaporub stuff (Vicks or generic) on your toenails if they are brittle and hard to clip.  It softens the nails.  I have no idea why.  I suppose it would work on fingernails, too.

my MIL told me Vick's Vapo Rub will also quiet a cough if you rub it on the soles of your feet at night, put on socks, and crawl into bed.

i havent ever tried it, so who knows.... but apparently vapo rub has many more uses than we know..  :-)

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I think your husband might be right!

I know my mother found the Asians take alot of short cuts, so she went back to a lady that is five bucks more expensive that she can understand!

Vicks VapoRub is best kept above the waist.

Don't ask me how I know this.

i hated that stuff as a kid... my mom would leave it about an inch think on my little chest. i swear to God, I though it would burn a hole thru me at times... i'm pretty sure i've never seen it again since I left home :-)

they are definitely cheap. all the white people around seattle are 200% more, but the servies and spar are plush. i'm not going to spend 90 bucks no matter how good the foot/leg/hand massage is! i'll take listening to that terrible sounding language for 30 minutes so i can do it every week. :-)

I can think of alot of things small Asian women would be good for........none of which involve pedicures.

Oh God, speaking of that AND feet at the same time....(Stop reading here if you're easily grossed out.)

I developed a fungus on one of my toenails for the first time in my life. I've seen worse, but this is ugly, thick and trying to curl up so much it hurts. I was told that Vick's Vapo Rub is a great toenail fungus remedy. I went to the store to buy it and chickened out for the paint-on stuff. If the store-brand stuff doesn't work, does anyone have experience with Vicks for that purpose?

I have ACTUALLY used a belt sander on my feet. It has the little button that will lock it to the "on" position. One MUST exercise a little caution when using it. Worked like a champ for me !!! Who NEEDS a PedEgg??  :rotf: :rotf:

I purchased one a couple of weeks ago.  I love it!

And because of me, I've had like 3 or 4 friends buy one too.

I have the nastiest heels ever.  I used it for the first time and it is incredible!  My heels look like they belong on a human instead of some sort of alien/goat/alligator hybrid.  Ped Egg!
http://www.pedegg.com/creamindex.html?directLoad&uid=E2C3C140931EFBC297B63F04A4C1121F

I found mine at Walmart instead of ordering it from TV though.

I have one.....works well.....they are not just for "girls"  :-)

Very true.  Guys get callouses and they hurt -- they also snag socks, etc.

A few minutes with that pedi-egg works like a champ.

WARNING: It does NOT keep the callous dust inside the unit -- when I use it there is a cloud of dust over my foot.  Take it outside.

I have one...works great!...used it on hubby and now I dont have to wrap my feet up in the blankets to avoid his feet...lol.  But you are right...the dust does leak out...best to do it on a newspaper or something :-)

I used mine yesterday.  I find that my left foot gives off about 50% more dust than my right foot.  I think it has something to do with the fact that I am right handed.  I think that should be a federally funded research project.

I can happily report that I finally got around to taking the advice of monistat crean and the PedEgg for cracked painful heels. Took about one week but now I have new feet and I am  :blowkiss:
