The connection's the old school tie.
The University of Nebraska, at least when I was there, had the policy of inviting professors from other institutions to teach here for, usually, two years. Usually all institutions have "visiting professors," but Nebraska, being a pretty small state with fewer resources than most states, did it more than most of them, so as to save money.
In my college career, about half my professors were just visiting.
And more than half of those were from Yale.
And so the old school tie between Skins and franksolich; we were both taught by professors from Yale, he in New Haven and myself in Lincoln.
