He was a suspected Bloods member who had a decent rap sheet for his 16 years. Also, he had what looked like a S&W heavy-barreled .357 in his hand, according to the NYPD. Fixed-sight version without an ejector shroud, so I think it may have been a Model 14 (?). The NYPD members that shot him said that the perp pointed the revolver at them, so they fired. The mother of the perp said 'that there was no way he could have been carrying a gun,' but the NYPD says otherwise. There's pics (in the New York Post) of an NYPD member holding the perp's handgun and putting it into an NYPD vehicle.
