Feeling conflicted for the first time in my life

I am 39 years old. If you told me a decade ago that I would be blind in one eye, suffering from mobility problems and needing the help of family and friends just to get though the day, I would laugh hard in your face.

I have been a very HARD CORE supporter of President Obama from day one. I have defended this President from the hard core of our party. But when I heard what Senator Sanders said on the Ed Show earlier tonight that chained CPI is on the table and that we need to be prepared to give up something, with all due respect to the President I say

HECK NO WE'RE NOT GIVING UP ON ANYTHING.

Mr. President, people including me worked hard to get you elected. People like me work hard to defend you from people who are so quick to criticize you. I want to believe that you're going to look out for those of us who broke our backs trying to get you elected and yet your going to mess with the one thing that many of us depend on.

You see back in 2003 when I lost my vision, I was depressed. I felt defeated. In fact, I was ready to give up on life. I mean if you lost the ability to see in one eye, suffering from dizzy spells on a daily basis, what would you do?

After weeks of pressure from family and friends, I finally caved and went to the social security office. Naturally, I felt like I wasn't going to get approved. I remember the horrors some family members went through when trying to get medicaid. I assumed I would have the same trouble.

Upon arriving to the office and getting escorted to my case worker. I was handed the application and I cringed. The print was so small I could barely read it. In fact, I was fighting dizziness as I worked on filling it out. I didn't know it at the time but my case worker told me to stop while she stepped out.

I thought I did something wrong. In reality she went and asked her supervisor if she could approve me on the spot. She came back and told me not only was I approved for Social Security Medicare but they gave me food stamps as well. I had no income at the time so that was a blessing for me.

She filled out the application for me and told me when my benefits would start.

Now at some point you would think most people would be happy with the outcome. Not me, I felt really bad around 2004. My mother and father were worried sick about me. My father who was battling cancer at the time reached out to me and for the first time in my life, he started calling me every day. They would always tag team me asking or rather begging me to come home.

As a stubborn and proud man, I had a hard time accepting help. It's always been my weakness. They kept that up until finally I had an inspiration one day. I know many of you are not religious, but I am and I had a conversation with God who convinced me to work on my dream which brings me to today.

As I said earlier, I have been a strong supporter of President Obama, always will be, but messing with Social Security which I rely on as my primary source of income is something that does not sit well with me.

Being on social security has humbled me. Me, a guy who when he would get his check when he was working would always splurge on things on the spur of the moment because I knew I had a check coming in two weeks. But when your on limited income, you learn to pick and choose what you want.

You go through and pay mortgage, light bill, gas bill, water bill, buy your groceries which you got to make last a month and maybe, MAYBE if you're lucky you get 150.00 for entertainment money.

I'm here to say for the first time in my life I'm on the fence about this and I will join and support Bernie Sanders for a real Fillerbuster of this potential Grand Bargain. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

But I felt like I had to tell you guys my story so that you know where I'm coming from on this.

Very frustrated and I wish our leaders would listen to us instead of trying to please the wealth.

You know what DUmmy just consider it paying your fair share, you say you worked very hard to get 0bama in office and if your benefits get reduced just consider it as being taxed on your hard work.

I swear they think they deserve a freaking medal or something because they think they did something to get 0bama elected.

The story of getting approved on the spot is total BS. There is a process for getting disability and no one ever gets approved on the spot.
I think the DUmmy put that in the story so his fellow DUmpmonkeys would think he is really disabled.

Ixnay on the olemay.
I think he's pretty clever.

Let's see: blind in one eye, dizzy, from a long line of losers, on disability, on food stamps, loves the muslim, loves Bernie Sanders even more, and toes the DUmp line to a T.

This is a great cred post to be in the archives whenever a suspcious future DUmmy looks up his posting history.

If he also claimed to be a black queer, he'd be golden.

The only black mark against him will be that business of having a talk with God.

Also--Medicare on the spot?? If I remember correctly, you have to be on SSDI for two years before you get Medicare. Maybe something has changed--drastically in the last couple of decades, but that's the way it was when I was working for our county DSS.

'Nother thing. Are food stamps, SS, and Medicare all run through the same office in some places? Sure never was this way before.

I think some disabilities come with automatic Medicare. Will have to ask my wife she works for SSDI.

What's he so upset about?  He can just take the .3% cut out of his $150 entertainment allowance.

Gotta spread the wealth around.  Obama said so.....

Is this "chained CPI" just more liberal speak for cutting government hand-outs?

I just got my health insurance renewal, it went up $118.00, this is the conversation I had with my insurance agent:

Me: I can't believe it went up that much

Insurance Agent: it went up 18%

Me: I thought Obama said it was going to go down $2,500 a year?

Insurance Agent: Bwahahahahahaha, you're kidding right?

Me: You know me well enough to know I'm being sarcastic

I received a memo last year that said my insurance rates would not be changing during 2013.

We'll see what happens next year.

It still takes two years to get Medicare. Most are able to get state benefits to fill the gap before Medicare kicks in. In Nevada they jump on one of the Medicare Advantage Plans that simply charges the Part B premiums, and throws in no cost part D coverage for the drugs. Then they have Medicaid as secondary coverage. So they have no donut hole, no deductables, etc......  Most of them live at the freaking doctors office and that is why I have to wait two weeks for an appointment just for a simple order to get blood work.

I just happen to have a job where I see the worst of the worst and see thousands of dollars a day handed over to the so called disabled in prescription bottles. Most of these people have more energy and mobility then I do. I'm exhausted after waiting on ungrateful, demanding, deadbeats all day. They think getting that red white and blue medicare card at 30 years old is a badge of honor.

Had to give myself heparin shots twice a day in my STOMACH the whole pregnancy. Later got reactive arthritis and have recurrent uveitis in my right eye. Have had many shots in that eye plus cataract surgery and my vision is screwed in that eye.
