1. Little girls get raped also
Do they think a 10 year old should be carrying a gun to and from school to protect her from rape?
No she should just pee her pants and puke all over the guy, if that doesn't work run to a rape free zone and blow a whistle.
I have a crazy idea how about we have some responsible adults keeping an eye on the kids when they are at school?

8. I'm sorry that happened to you.
I also think Maxwell's rebuttal that women in the military, most of whom have access to guns, are also the ones most at risk of getting raped is very true.
How on earth is gun rights going to protect children from being raped? Or how will it protect women and men from being raped by their friends, their co-workers, their families? After all, most rapists know their victims. Do they expect children to carry arms whenever they're alone with their dads, their parents' friends? Do they expect women to carry guns at work - everywhere? If those who think guns are the best answer to everything cannot see the idiocy in this, they are clearly saying that theirs are not opinions worth listening to, let alone debating.
The DUmmies still think that everyone on a military base walks around with their M-16 locked and loaded.
A whole lot of stupid in that post.

10. They seem to believe Stalin's maxim
"Power comes from the barrel of a gun"; the gun nuts forget how Stalin ended up.
And you forgot how the people under Stalin ended up.

16. That's a Mao quote
And Stalin didn't die from a gunshot, he died of a stroke. There are theories that he was poisoned, but the evidence still points mostly to stroke.
Bush killed him or was it Frank?

18. Stalin said it too
IIRC, he said "long rifle".
It's an honest mistake, since all dictators are the same it's easy to get confused.

12. the gun nuts remind me of this saying" "if your only tool is a hammer, everything looks like a nail
You know nothing about gun owners if you say that.
You act as if gun owners shoot their guns to open cans and turn off lights.

2. Hooray for Ms. Maxwell
She should not let these idiots shut her down. I am glad someone finally went on a national forum and said this--that teaching young women how to avoid rape is only half of the equation. We also need to teach young men how to avoid committing the crime, to respect woman, and that a woman's body is not public property.
It does not matter what a woman wears, what she eats or drinks, where she is, or what time of day it is. The choice to rape comes down to the person who does the rape. Period. We must end the social attitude that tells men that certain women are "fair game".
Zerlina Maxwell is absolutely right, and I stand by her.
If we need to teach kids that they shouldn't rape then this country has bigger problems than I thought. I guess this is what happens when the government takes on the role of the parent and doesn't bother to teach any kind of morals.

14. I'm so glad she spoke out
I am getting tired of these Republicans and their need to threaten anyone they don't like.
And I'm tired of you idiots threatening everyone you don't like.

15. Ugly stuff for sure.
But then, it's exactly what we have come to expect from righties. Hate, prejudice, fear, threats, violence, and greed defines them.
Unfortunately, teh gun culture culture and The Delicate Flower mental illness that goes with it, crosses party lines.
Damn these people are stupid.
