Ed Schultz is the only person I know that claims to have switched from (R) to (D). But the cynic in me thinks that he was just too putrid to get any airtime from a respectable blog or network, so he tacked way left to get MSNBC's attention.  And it worked.  His show gets almost as many viewers as a Gunsmoke episode on TVLand.

I've never seen anyone go Rep. to Dem either.

Me either, (R) to (I) like me, but never (R) to (D).  Even the most liberal Republican I know, knows the Destruct-o-crats for who they are.  She is more libertarian, anyway.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.

Show 'em what an FDR Democrat is, and why they want one.
Here's another good example of an FDR democrat and it should come as no surprise that he was a Klansman--Harry Truman, failed hat salesman and FDR's vice president.
Quote
In 1911, the year he turned 27, Truman wrote to his future wife, Bess: "I think one man is just as good as another so long as he's honest and decent and not a ni**er or a Chinaman. Uncle Will says that the Lord made a white man from dust, a ni**er from mud, then He threw up what was left and it came down a Chinaman."
Quote
"(Uncle Will) does hate Chinese and Japs," Truman continued. "So do I. It is race prejudice, I guess. But I am strongly of the opinion Negroes ought to be in Africa, yellow men in Asia and white men in Europe and America."
Quote
More than 25 years later, Truman, then a U.S. senator from Missouri, wrote a letter to his daughter describing waiters at The White House as "an army of c**ns." In a letter to his wife in 1939 he referred to "ni**er picnic day."

And his wife Bess was no treasure either:
Quote
The dark side of Truman's attitude toward Jews was very much a family affair. In his book Confessions of a White House Ghostwriter, James Humes, who penned speeches for five presidents, related a little-known but highly revealing story he heard from the prominent impresario David Susskind.

Years after Truman left office, Susskind was working with the former president on a television documentary. Wrote Humes:

Susskind said that each morning he would arrive at Truman's house at Independence [Missouri]. He would wait on the porch on a cold February day while Mrs. Truman went to inform her husband of his arrival. After about the fourth morning, he asked the president in his walk why he was never asked inside.

"You're a Jew, David, and no Jew has ever been in the house."

A nonplussed Susskind replied, "I am amazed that you who recognized Israel and championed the integration of the army would say such a thing!"

"David," he explained, "this is not the White House - it's the Wallace [Bess Truman's maiden name] house. Bess runs it, and there's never been a Jew inside the house in her or her mother's lifetime."

David Brock.  I can't think of any Republican who switched to Dems that I'd miss.

You have seen it, John McCain, Linsay Graham, and a whole host of other RINOs.  :-)

Who's to say they aren't closet demos to begin with?

BUT he was a democrat before he became a republican before he became a democrat AGAIN.

Arlen Specter is what I have called; "a politician without any principles", but then there are too many like him.

If repukes decide Lindsey Graham is too far to the left, then 0bamaites will hold the White House and the judiciary indefinitely.

A candidate to the right of Lindsey Graham has no chance of ever winning a national election.

Good thing the only votes that count are the ones in South Carolina.  ;)

I would argue that label applies to all politicians on the circuit today.

Actually; perhaps "without any" is too strong. I'd suggest "negotiable principles" - in that very little is actually set in stone and nearly all can change depending on how the winds are blowing at any one moment.
