"David," he explained, "this is not the White House - it's the Wallace [Bess Truman's maiden name] house. Bess runs it, and there's never been a Jew inside the house in her or her mother's lifetime."

I would argue that label applies to all politicians on the circuit today.

Actually; perhaps "without any" is too strong. I'd suggest "negotiable principles" - in that very little is actually set in stone and nearly all can change depending on how the winds are blowing at any one moment.
