So disgusted and becoming hopeless to this group.

Well, my health insurance has really pulled a number on me for 2012. The "defined benefit" plan I was disability retired under a number of years ago due to MS has now decided to dump their responsibility to pay for prescription drugs off on the Federal government's Medicare Part D program whereas before it was funded privately by the retirement plan that I paid into for years. I continue to pay Union dues and I'm starting to wonder why, as I'd really like to know what they are doing by dumping the cost of the prescription medication plan I used to have on the Federal government!
 
They say it is for "financial reasons" and when you go to their website, it boasts about the fact that the pension fund has a current balance of $247 billion in it! That money got there by people like me paying into it and no other way but that! What sort of a way is this to treat retirees? The analcyst I talked to acted as if that $247 billion belonged to him personally and told me basically to go away and do not call back as we have no help for you and your crappy $75.00 a month disability pension!
 
My co-pays have gone from $25.00 last year to $100.00 this year in many cases.

Yesterday I had to pick-up a small bottle of eye drops that were RX'd for my husband. It is for a very serious eye problem and the doctor did not care to prescribe a generic substitute given the severity of the condition.
 
Anyway, being the eye drops were for one eye it stated, I was charged for a 2-mos. supply as they figured there were 50 eye drops in the bottle hence the bottle had more than needed supposedly. What happens if you miss the eye and the drop ends up on the floor, etc. (easy to do when you can only see out of one eye!)? At one eye drop per day in the eye, I am still short by 10 drops but don't bother to tell the greedy pigs at Rite-Aid about this.

Otherwise, I am not doing at all well having lost the hearing in my left ear for almost a month now. They look inside of it and can see nothing at all wrong. I suppose the MS is causing me to go deaf now but gee, I look so damn good.

I'd really like to see what others are facing this year. I just filed income taxes for 2012 and household income was less than it was the previous year so yeah, I'm slowly becoming more and more broke with every day that passes.

Looks like 0bama's America isn't being very good to the primitives.

There are so many variables when calculating the day supply for medications, including eye and ear drops.

She did not get charged for a two month supply, she was charged for a 50 day supply which defaulted to her 60 day co-pay. If the drops have a refill they can be filled after 47 days.

I'm guessing if her story is true, her pharmacy figured 20 drops per ml, and she received a 2.5 ml bottle. Brand name ear and eye drops are pricey.

The folks at Rite-Aid are not greedy pigs, they are just doing as they are contracted to do with her insurance company that is going broke. Insurance companies come in and do audits. It's not fun having to write a check to the insurance company because you bent the rules for the patient.

Sorry, if you have 50 doses in the bottle, of course you'll be charged for 50 doses.     Maybe you should trying being a bit more careful about using your eye drops. 

What do you expect the doctors to do about a hearing problem that they can't identify.  If you took a hearing test, and they determined that hearing aids would be helpful, they would prescribe you hearing aids.

Why have you continued to pay union dues if you are retired?  That sounds like an idiotic thing to do.
