Stupid Walking Dead question

First off, I'm not asking for a spoiler!

I'm kinda new to the series and I was watching tonight and I couldn't help but notice that the guy that runs the town, the guy that wears an eye patch.

There was a sequence where he took a gauze bandage off his eye, the wound looked like it might have been inflicted by a broadhead arrow that was just about out of energy.

Anyway, he took the bandage off his left eye now he is wearing the eye patch on his right eye.

Is that just a plot thing or was it a mistake?

Yeah, I suppose it could be that, he was looking at a mirror at the time.

Yeah, on the Talking Dead that runs right after, they said it was the mirror's reflection. 

I had looked away at that point, because I didn't want to know what he was going to do with the match.
