Obama is the closest thing to Nixon we've seen in 40 years

FoxNews.comIt is not without a bit of irony that, in the 40 years since the explosion of the Watergate story, Bob Woodward would again be under attack from the White House for trying to tell the truth. But this time the attack is coming from a Democrat.

While Barack Obama may not share the Nixon pedigree, he and his White House are the closest thing to the Nixon regime of any that we have seen since then -- both in the extent of their paranoia and their willingness to suppress the truth and push the boundaries of law.

In my lifetime, in over 40 years in national politics, Mr. Obama is the only president who comes close to rivaling Richard Nixon for fundamental disingenuousness.

In my lifetime, Barack Obama is the only president who comes close to rivaling Richard Nixon for fundamental disingenuousness.

However, some things never change, just as Woodward and Bernstein were attacked then by the establishment mainstream media for daring to question a president -- or do a story that they wouldn't touch -- they are once again attacking Woodward the way they did when he and  Carl Bernstein pursued Watergate.

As the youngest person on Nixon's enemies list in 1972, I am particularly sensitive to a White House where they have utter disregard for trampling on dissent and on the rights of individuals.

Since Benghazi, when I raised the alarm about a media that was not only willing to blatantly support one political party or one political a candidate but for the first time seemed willing to suppress or ignore the facts and truth as related to a disaster of American foreign policy, my fear has been that we are now on a slippery slope. Almost everything since then has helped to realize that fear. Chuck Hagel, the sequester, Mr. Obama's speeches -- all of these have revealed a mainstream press that has absolutely decided to wear its bias openly as outriders of the Obama administration. Except for one issue -- when the president refused to allow reporters to cover him and Tiger Woods playing golf together. Now that's something they can get riled up about.

Yeah, Nixon didn't have the media behind him.  I also don't think Nixon was a socialist/communist either.

Nixon was a freaking Boy Scout compared to the Marxist in chief we have now.
I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Nixon cared what happened to this country unlike the commander in thief.

Nixon was lead down the garden path by all the crooks among him.   I don't think he had any idea how corrupt the plumbers were.  To this day I do not believe the Water Gate had anything to do with lists of donors to the Rep. Campaign.

I believe the Dems had all kinds of dirt on the Rep. given to them by J. Edgar Hoover when he was forced into retirement. Now why the Plumbers thought all this would be laying around in a desk draw and not in a safe somewhere is beyond me.

Ah those were the times our president telling us he had a SECRET PLAN to end the war.  The hearings that brought in people like John Dean and the news focusing on his beautiful wife MO.

The crazy wife of a big player that was calling the Washington Post and New York Times and leaking out all kinds of dirty deeds from the Plumbers.  If I remember correctly she was quietly removed from her phone and home and placed in seclusion.

We had a vice president resign for unethical behavior, Agnew, all this going on.   I was perhaps in late twenty's at the time, Our president was yelling he was not a crook, and along came Ford and that Rockefeller guy.  Interesting the vice presidents son was on a shopping trip for items for the Museum in NY along the Amazon and was eaten by the natives. With in two months both the presidents wife and vice presidents wife lost a breast to cancer.  Then the presidents wife Betty Ford became a drunk, one of the Manson girls Squeaky tried to shoot the president.

What a time,  History has never been that interesting since. If you are too young to or not yet born, remember all this, this makes Clinton as his" I did not have sex with that woman" look like small potatoes.

One morning I went out to get the San Fransisco morning news to find on front page  --Smoking gun found"

Only thing to come close to all this going on was the Saga of Patty Hurst.   TANIA and the SLA bank robbery and the death of some of her captors.
