timdog44 (281 posts) Sat Feb 23, 2013, 07:35 PMI was looking at my profile. It says in statistics and information that my favorite group is LGBT. I support LGBT issues and don't discriminate in any way. But that is not my favorite group. I don't want to give any false perspectives, but at this point I don't know what my favorite group is yet. Where did this info come from?
Purveyor (11,661 posts) Sat Feb 23, 2013, 07:39 PM1. Oh we all know about you timdog44...We ALL know!!! LOLMy favorite group is supposedly the I/P dungeon where few dare to tread and it isn't.
CaliforniaPeggy (102,549 posts) Sat Feb 23, 2013, 07:41 PM2. Perhaps you made one post there, and none in any other groups.Try posting in some other group more than once, and then see what happens.
timdog44 (281 posts) Sat Feb 23, 2013, 08:04 PM6. I have seen you around a lot. Can't hardly guess from where you originate. Have a lot of relatives out there. But I understand what you mean. I just respond to the threads that I see as appropriate to what I am thinking, or at least to the ones available.
Tuesday Afternoon (41,553 posts) Sat Feb 23, 2013, 07:41 PM3. mathematically speaking, it is percentage wise. kind of a BS statistic but, there it is.more ammo to use against someone in the witch hunts over in Meta.
timdog44 (281 posts) Sat Feb 23, 2013, 08:06 PM7. Believe you me.I have been to Meta and that is a dangerous place to be. I was witch hunted on my first post. I felt almost betrayed because I felt I was/am a loyal Democratic voter and thinker. I am learning.
freshwest (27,569 posts) Sat Feb 23, 2013, 09:57 PM9. I think the expression, 'Abandon all hope who enter here' was about Meta...Just kidding. Yes, it's whatever group you have posted in a lot shows up. When one goes to the Home Page or Latest or Greatest, I don't know if shows the group. Sometimes I have seen a post that I'd want to respond to that when I got ther I checked the group and left. I've trashed a number of forums where people fight each other a lot. Especially the ones where it seems they all know each other very well. A general response can create havoc as they don't know the new person. My 'favorite' used to be the Cooking & Baking group, the escape route for many of us. Now it's the BOG, or the Barack Obama Group where I go to chat there. Meta is just exactly as you remember it, there is a history between different members and it is the catfighting section of DU. Many words have loaded meanings that a newcomer doesn't know. Take it easy wherever you are. At times, I make a point of responding to people I know aren't going to go off. And for my own part, I am not as open as I once was to posters that I don't know, who reply to me. Some people are here to bait others and make themselves feel superior with snarks. It's not nice, but it's what it is.
timdog44 (281 posts) Sun Feb 24, 2013, 08:25 AM10. Sorry it took me so long to respond. As I get older I seem to end up going to bed earlier. Thank you for the helpful words. As I recall, it was you who helped me get out of trouble when I first started posting. There was one other who took the time as you have, but don't recall the name, but it is in my saved posts. I go back to those to see who or who has not been "nice", or thoughtful of my responses. I know there is an ignore button, but I think that defeats the purpose of a site like this. I'll remember your escape route thinking. I have only begun to scratch the surface here. Again I appreciate you taking the time to educate a "freshman".
ZombieHorde (22,726 posts) Sat Feb 23, 2013, 07:45 PM 4. Favorite group=most posted in group.
timdog44 (281 posts) Sat Feb 23, 2013, 08:10 PM8. Didn't even realize that was the group I was posting to. Like I said above, I just respond to things that don't seem fair to me. And thank you for the information also. It seems when I come to the welcome and help forum that I meet the nicest people. Problem is, if I want to talk about what is important to me as a Democratic voter/supporter, I need to go other places. And a big thank you to you also. And I hope that is not taken wrong. I think this forum is important and have used it for good info on a number of occasions. This is not the proper venue to talk about Democratic issues.
Rhiannon12866 (52,165 posts) Wed Feb 27, 2013, 04:14 AM11. I post all over, so my "favorite group" changes all the timeDepends on where you post and could be based on just a few times, wherever you posted most recently. I'm sure yours will change many times, too.
ellisonz (24,846 posts) Fri Mar 1, 2013, 01:59 AM12. I'm still trying to get mine to not be the Gungeon.I swore off that cesspool.
Rhiannon12866 (52,165 posts) Fri Mar 1, 2013, 03:57 AM13. I don't blame youThough I think you have a ways to go, especially since, like me, you mostly post the the forum "that shall not be named..."
ellisonz (24,846 posts) Fri Mar 1, 2013, 04:07 AM14. I just have to not post in that groupAnd post in other groups - like those that I host such as Democracy for America, Hawaii, Buddhism, and Judiasm As to the forum "that shall not be named" - I do find it to be sucking up my posting time on DU, but some of that is the lack of big news and wanting to keep my nose clean. So in short, I'm taking advantage of my time in the "mystery" forum.
Rhiannon12866 (52,165 posts) Fri Mar 1, 2013, 04:13 AM15. I think my "favorite" changes so oftenBecause I post so rarely on the board anymore, that it doesn't take very many posts to show up as my "favorite." I've gotten into the habit of checking the "mystery" forum first, and I get caught up, too.
