I just thought that I would bring this over here.

If this is true it should be a moment of clarity, an epiphany, a moment in time that changes things.

To paraphrase the story...

Why is it that it is usually white liberals and black liberal politicians that complain about school choice?  Most interviews that I have seen with black parents and other poor parents in crappy schools  want the chance to send the kids to better schools.

When people are given choice, government loses power.  Likewise, when government is given power, people lose choice.

I am not sure what DUmmies don't understand about this.

Public education is controlled by statists and labor unions.  They don't want to give up that control. What if alternative schools can do a better job than they do?  I've even read articles where they want to make home schooling illegal.  Some parts of Europe are doing just that.

Liberals want brainwashed zombies to think the way they do.  Well educated independent thinkers are a threat to them gaining and holding power.

I find that these teacher's unions, let the teachers do whatever, and they don't have to be accountable for their actions. Suspending kids for things that have nothing to do with education, it is based on their personal opinons and/or fears...

The government can't fix anything as complex as a school system to run smoothly.
Post office, Amtrack, ICE, etc are glaring examples.

US already spends more than double per student compared to averages in Europe and
10 times as much as schools in China & India. And yet US students lag way behind in
math & science testing. Just look at the foreign students grades versus US born students
in US universities. The foreign students out perform by a significant margin.

What works best anywhere is those facing fierce competition. I will bet any money if the
public schools faced stiff competition, they will improve quickly and spectacularly.

...which was called a RW talking point.
