I would have told them to try and take it off. Touch the kid and the cops will be the least of their problems once the lawyers get done.

For several years, my young son had a thing for The Marines. All he could talk about was finishing high school and joining The Marines. So, in the seventh grade there was a career day at his middle school. The Navy recruiter left some info on a table and applications for The Marines. My son picked one up and was filling it out saying that when he was old enough he wanted to join The Marines. His teacher saw it, took it from him and tore it up, threw it in the trashcan and told him he was stupid and that of all the services The Marines were the stupidest, craziest and worst of the lot. When I heard that, I flew hot. If it hadn't been for the wife calming me down there might have been a killing. A couple of months later when they had parent/teacher conference day I gave her an ear full......you should have seen the big eyes and gapping mouth on the teacher......and my leg still hurts where the wife kicked me... :-).

The school issued an apology yesterday saying that the shirt was not in violation of any dress code. They also went on to say that they fully support the Military and the men and women in the Military.

That's a shame, mine doesn't get in my way when an "educator" has done something as stupid and idiotic as that.  It has made for some very tense, very "dark" meetings in the principal's office.
