Netflix series House of Cards
« on: February 10, 2013, 01:06:08 PM »
Has anybody checked it out yet?  I watched all 13 episodes in less than a week and I give it two thumbs up.

It's the story of Frank Underwood, a democrat party majority whip congressman who goes looking for payback when he gets screwed over by the democrat president who had promised him the Secretary of State job but then changed his mind.

This show does not even remotely resemble any of the typical Aaron Sorkin type political TV shows that blow kisses to the democrat party.

I heard that even if you're not a Netflix customer you can still watch the first episode free of charge, somehow.

I watched it and like it a lot. Waiting on season 2.
It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

It was okay, the events got increasingly more unbelievable as the season went along though

I am in the middle of watching all of Lost.  Only 89 more episodes to go... then I will check it out.

It is my opinion that you will be extremely disappointed at the end and wish you hadn't wasted all your time.

I really enjoyed the British "House of Cards" and have the DVDs.  It's also worth checking out.

Quote
House of Cards is a 1990 political thriller television drama serial by the BBC in four episodes, set after the end of Margaret Thatcher's tenure as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. It was televised from 18 November to 9 December 1990, to critical and popular acclaim. The story was adapted by Andrew Davies from a novel written by Michael Dobbs, a former Chief of Staff at Conservative Party headquarters.

The antihero of House of Cards is a fictional Conservative Chief Whip, Francis Urquhart played by Ian Richardson. The plot follows his amoral and manipulative scheme to become leader of the governing party and Prime Minister.

I was going to watch the BBC House of Cards but I thought that I'd wait a while before tackling it but since there's only four episodes I think I'll wade in right away.

I watched the first two episodes tonight and I feel sick to my stomach. The only positive thing I could think the whole time was, "Well, at least so far it is entirely about Democrats screwing each other over."
