The LAPD does great when it comes to bashing in the heads of non-violent peaceful protesters and brutalizing people like the homeless on Skid Row who can't or won't fight back. When they go up against one of their own, meh, not so much.

That, however, does not justify taking the lives of innocent people who had nothing to do with his story, or any other life for that matter. But you can only push some people just so far before they snap, unfortunately.

The Navy pulled his security clearance after LAPD fired him and he was subsequently passed over twice for promotion, it's up or out for officers in most branches.  Sounds like he was a subpar shitbird anyways, he apparently dresses out at over 270 lbs, so he certainly wasn't within height/weight standards.  I'm sure they were happy to let him go.

He seems to have been from So. Calif.  He recently stayed in a Pt. Loma Naval hotel which is in the city of San Diego. That's also where he tried to steal the boat.
His mom lives in La Palma which is closer to Long Beach and San Pedro.

According to the Navy Times, he was deployed to Afghanistan 2006-2007.

This is interesting, what his LAPD trainer said about him after his deployment;

When he returned, he was assigned to a training officer, Sgt. Teresa Evans, who became increasingly alarmed at his conduct, according a summary of an interview with Evans in Dorner’s disciplinary file.

The burly man with tattoos on his biceps repeatedly asked why he was not sent to reintegration training after his return from war and on one occasion, began weeping in the patrol car and demanded to be taken back to the police academy to be retrained, court documents show.

Dorner also told Evans he was building a house in Las Vegas and intended to sue the department after his probationary period was over — a conversation Evans reported to a superior.

Evans began collecting examples of “deficiencies” in Dorner’s police work — including talking to a suspect on a “man with a gun” call without taking cover. After much prodding, Evans recounts, Dorner told her he “might have some issues regarding his deployment.”

On Aug. 4, 2007, Evans warned Dorner that she would give him an unsatisfactory rating and request that he be removed from the field unless he improved.

Six days later, Dorner reported to internal affairs that in the course of an arrest Evans had kicked a severely mentally ill man in the chest and left cheek. His report came two weeks after the arrest, police and court records allege.

I think everything just came to a head.  He exhausted his ability to appeal the  LAPD thing and then he wasn't promotable with the Navy so they sent him on his way.

Precisely.  I was listening to Fuhrman and Hannity talk about this oxygen thief today, and apparently this turd came out of the PD Academy with a huge chip on his shoulder.  Namely that he was a black man, the LAPD is a racist organization and he was going to see all kinds of deep seated prejudice in his day to day work environment.  Fuhrman had apparently uncovered that - according to his PD jacket, and the details of his wrongful termination lawsuit against LAPD (dismissed by the courts)  - this turd hadn't made it all the way through his term as a probie before he was showing all the signs of being a problem child.  He couldn't make it through two additional division assignments before the LAPD - as institutionally lethargic as any other bureaucratic organization - had had enough.
