Gun control: Japan has it right

-snip-

First, anyone who wants to get a gun must demonstrate a valid reason why they should be allowed to do so. Under longstanding Japanese policy, there is no good reason why any civilian should have a handgun, so - aside from a few dozen accomplished competitive shooters -they are completely banned.

Virtually all handgun-related crime is attributable to gangsters, who obtain them on the black market. But such crime is extremely rare and when it does occur, police crack down hard on whatever gang is involved, so even gangsters see it as a last-ditch option.

Rifle ownership is allowed for the general public, but tightly controlled.

Applicants first must go to their local police station and declare their intent. After a lecture and a written test comes range training, then a background check. Police likely will even talk to the applicant's neighbors to see if he or she is known to have a temper, financial troubles or an unstable household. A doctor must sign a form saying the applicant has not been institutionalized and is not epileptic, depressed, schizophrenic, alcoholic or addicted to drugs.

A doctor must sign a form saying the applicant has not been institutionalized and is not epileptic, depressed, schizophrenic, alcoholic or addicted to drugs.......well, all law abiding DUmmies will never have a gun......that's good......since the crazies are the most likely mass killers/shooters.....but then when you think about how they ignore the laws on drugs....and taxes....and well, just anything they don't agree with.

As always, the primitives are telling only half of the story.

It is true that the Japanese have virtually no firearm related homicides, but it is also true that Japan shuns two things- immigration, and the notion of multiculturalism.

So- tell ya what, primitives --

Once Obama puts the same sort of regulation on immigration, and hands out the same sort of punishment to illegal immigrants that Japan does, and once Obama makes English the national official language, then we can talk about altering the Bill of Rights.

I suspect once the illegals are deported, and once considerably tougher immigration requirements are put into place and enforced, gun violence will drop.

I also suspect once we become a unified nation, speaking ONE primary language, the self-segregation of Americans will subside (e.g. Chinatown, Little Italy, etc etc. ) as well as the desire to commit violence against other races and nationalities.

Japan is also a relatively small island with a dense population.

The US has thousands of miles of uninhabited border.

I say we ship the little tyrants to their own small island.

Give the Japanese a few million Chicago hoodrats (if only!) and see what happens to the crime rate.

Empty Cook County and refill it with Norwegians and see what happens to the crime rate.

So the Japanese mafia has guns, and gun crimes are rare? Did you ever stop and wonder why?

The people are defenseless. Without a means of resistance, the people are a captive nation. The thugs don't have to shoot anyone. Only the threat is enough.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Even back when I was an adolescent and gun-control came up as an issue, I got weary of comparisons with say, for example, Sweden or Japan or Greece.

Even back then I knew that such places had a relatively homogeneous population (i.e., Swedes, white, Lutheran, spoke the same language uniformly, common historical background), whereas the United States consists of various ethnic and racial and cultural groups, some of them at odds with others.

Also, these tended to be small countries in either area or population, or both, whereas the United States is a pretty big country, in both area and population.

If one wished a realistic comparison, one should compare apples with apples (i.e. countries large in area and population and consisting of diverse ethnic groups)--the United States with Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Nigeria, Mexico, &c., &c., &c. (leaving out China and India for sheer population).

In which case, when it came to violence, the United States was pretty peaceful.

But nobody paid attention to me.

From which we learn two points:

First, criminals don't care whether their actions are illegal, so they'll have guns regardless of the law.
Secondly, cracking down on gangs (rather than chasing legal and peaceable gun-owners) can be effective.

Unfortunately the DUmp's prescription goes against both of these.

Also the laws by which the United States forced on Japan after the defeat of their Empire is why they have most of the laws they have if not all of them in the current Government there. The reason gun control is like it is there is because no one in the world wanted them to have access to any guns least they start their shit all over again. As it has been said the DUmmies only get part of History right and all the rest wrong but they don't care because it fits their agenda. Also The Japanese depend on us for most of their countries Defense despite the fact they have a military it is only allowed to be used for Defense or for humanitarian purposes.

If they had been allowed to raise a military to the same levels they had before the end of WWII and use it for the same reasons then what do you think would be the number and use of guns in Japan today? It might not be the paradise you think it is now with their gun laws. They do have gun makers in Japan still but they export most of what they have. If I remember correctly it is even hard for anyone in Japan to have replicas of guns unlike about 10-20 years ago because the criminals were using toys and replicas to rob and steal. So much for the vaunted gun control laws.  Criminals break the law that is why they are called criminals but Dummies could care less .

Try comparing crime and gun laws in Japan to the US isn't like comparing apples to oranges.

It's more like trying to compare bacteria to spacecraft from Alpha Centauri.

Then again, if any of these ****ing clowns had ever, you know, BEEN to Japan, they might know that.  I'm sure their first trip there will be a real eye-opener when they try to walk into a club with a "Japanese Only" sign out front, or when they try to buy a car in Tokyo and have to PROVE they have a place to park it, etc...

Or when they're expected to work 60-70 hours a week and live in a cracker box apartment.

I'm guessing the DUmmies won't think Japan is such a paradise.
