For Sparky and anyone in our area.
« on: January 23, 2013, 05:34:32 PM »
We have a bit of a problem in this area, the 3 bridges to  Maine, one down to be rebuild  now the second bridge is out.

What a mess.   The second bridge just fell apart today,  Grandson was working on the draw bridge when all Hell broke out. Pieces of it began to rain onto the road way -----they blame the cold-------so there is now just one bridge to get from NH into Maine, the high level   bridge .

So what does this do to the General Sullivan bridge that also needs  repair and maintenance.

You may need to get out your map to find a way to get to work around crossing any bridges, what was a 15 minute drive to visit my Mother may now take around about to last 40 minutes.

 What a night mare for those truck drivers delivering food,  just for starts.

  • If I agree with you, then we'll both be wrong.

Stay safe Vesta.

The cold? Sounds to me like dynamite.
Maybe the New Hampshire people don't want liberal refugees from Maine ruining their state.

It's dead Vesta.  Let it go.  It is unnecessary.  Actually why even talk about rebuilding the SL.  The rail way underneath is not necessary.  They can barge out the stuff.  SL is an impediment to getting the newer, larger stuff up river.  The new Memorial will be done in the summer. Wait for it.  The high level will take you where you need to go in the mean time.  You can also take out the circle to make it a fourway.

I can even invision tearing up all the asphalt in P_town and make it look like Williamsburg complete with horse $hit. The Ma$$holes would love it. Welcome to New Newburyport, Bluehampster a re-creation of the way things never were.  How about bring back the brothels in the South End.  Madame Vesta's has a certain ring to it, heck you can even run it by hand till you can round up a few girls. Cal it a Zumba Health Club. :tongue:

Now you got me going Zeit, what would be a water front town be without the Girls that refused to marry and live on a farm raising 8 kids in 7 years ????  All that hard wok and the kids births so close together most would die before 30 so why not have an interesting life.

So I went looking for the history of the Party Girls in the old days.  Census reports show in the early 1800's I had a Uncle, I believe that under occupation had Music player and the address was a scuvey place on the water front.

{ Great, a long time ago I had an Uncle that played the piano in a whore house }

Funny the things one can learn about family if you read between the lines.   I did notice quite a few single woman living on the water front put down occupation as Seamstress. Heck sailors need a woman to repair the only clothing they owned.

On to the the big home at Strawberry bank that was owned by a woman that was very influencial in that area.  Plack outside her home gives one the feeling she was something else.   Storys say she had a real diamond inplanted in a front tooth and entertained only the wealthy.   A real  lady she was and so were the woman she hired as Maids.  Every Sunday the house was empty as she and Girls were in Church.

Sooner or later I will get to the Roaring 20's and all the fun and games with the speak easys and the Flappers----

No problem getting woman to work at Madam Vesta's, just get ahold of the lawyer that ran the Danish Health Spa across the river and request names.
