Cookies for Kaiser

Might get into trouble for this. If so, Mods can move or delete. There is a lady in our berg town ( Beaumont, TX ) that had seen listed on a humane society link or someplace, about a white shepherd mix named Kaiser in Irving, TX, I believe. He had heart worms, a badly deformed paw from a break that did not heal properly and some other problems. Her husband is a school teacher in one of the local junior highs, I think, and very understanding of the lady's passion for animals. He encouraged her and they drove to Irving to adopt the pup just before he was to be euthanized. It so happens she uses the same vet I do, and made arrangements for Kaisers treatment and a payment plan with Doc. her Facebook came to my wife's attention, and I went to Doc, and had him charge my account for a bit of the fee. She inturn started making at home treats and goodies and selling them to help defray the cost of the heart worm treatment and the follow up surgery to make the foot better again. Since then she has fostered a Great Dane, a pup that came from a puppy mill, she just found a pit bull running down the street dragging a tow chain, He has been cleaned up, neutered, wounds healed, treated for heart worms. They have chickens, a guinea pig, several cats, two or three more dogs.

One of the Ace Hardware chains in Beaumont and surrounding towns, stocks her treats, as do a few other places. During the holidays, she worked overtime keeping up with orders which is also includes mail orders and orders on Facebook. Truly, I believe she is one of God's people that looks after the unfortunate poor animals that roam the earth.

BTW, my understanding is she use to be a roller derby girl.

I know Miss Dawn would certainly appreciate it. When she had first gotten Kaiser and found out how much treatment the feller would need to be whole again, she had mentioned on her Facebook that Doc Wehner was her vet. I went in to get some heart worm medicine or something for Shooter Rocket and just told the little gal to charge my credit card $50 and apply it to the Kaiser fund for his treatment. It wasn't gonna break me, and it would help get the feller treated sooner. I went through the heart worm treatment with my Brandy and its a tough treatment, not guaranteed to work. In this part of the country, heart worms are quite prevalent due to skeeters'.

I was wondering why an insurance company gets cookies.  :rotf:

Seriously though that is a moving story. There's a special place in heaven for people like her.

Moi? I am just like mild mannered Clark Kent.

Like Norman Bates, I wouldn't hurt a fly.
