I don't like or dislike Beyonce, but to be fair, there have been quite a few people on Twitter saying that singing cold weather can cause some serious throat problems.

On the TV news last night, a member of The Marine Band, the presidents own, said that they were only acting like they were playing their instruments while she was singing the anthem.....then later an officer from the band released a statement that no one in the band was in a position(?) or authorized(?) to make such a statement......didn't say whether they were playing or not.

As an Army musician, I've definitely had to "ape" playing my instrument so that a sound track would be added later on. This is nothing new.

Insofar as recordings are concerned, you'd be surprised just how much they're manipulated to be error-free. Those recording engineers are so good now they can make a camel fart sound like Luciano Pavarotti.

Honestly, I could not care less.  The artists that get tagged to do events like this routinely prerecord their performance, just to make sure that the performance the audience experiences is as flawless as possible.  Girl has a frog in her throat when she steps to the mike? Easy, the sound engineer just fades her mike from the output and fades in the recording, and 99% of the low-intelligence Obama voters never recognize the difference.

If it took a pre-recorded tape to do it, then fine. The last thing we want the world to see is a botched up National Anthem at the inauguaration of the president - regardless of how anyone thinks of the president or singer or anyone else that was up there on the massive podium or whatever it was called.

In the grand scheme of things...there are a whole lot of other stuff to worry and bitch about.
