How Can The Republicans Win The Presidency

What do you think the Republicans need to do to win the Presidency next time?   The democrats I talk to say the republicans will never win another election.  They point to the changing demographics and say Whites are on the way out.

I think the GOP needs to embrace socialism and promise more goodies than the Dems do.
The GOP needs to jump on the gun ban bandwagon, amnesty for illegals, free abortion on demand, and free motel vouchers to go along with free birth control.
Then we need to support and demand single payer health care, tax the rich even more, and draw down the military by at least 60%.

Would that get your vote?

Over the past 12 years, the GOP HAS embraced socialism, spent money like drunken sailors (even when the till was empty), and brought lotsa pork home. I think they might've drawn the line at free motel vouchers, though...

I do not live in America.  I just find it interesting talking to Americans about politics.  I find American Politics rather confusing but interesting nontheless.

I am sure you are being facetious but from what I read there is a big push amongst Republicans to veer to the left and adopt more of a liberal platform.

Everyone who thought their side would always win has turned out to be wrong.  Republicans who won 5 of six elections from 1968-1988 gave way to Democrats winning the popular vote in 5 of the next six.  Things can and do change.

In order to win again, Republicans have to speak to the chasm between the Democrats' rhetoric and the results that they have delivered to the minority communities.  They have to speak to everyone, and make the case for individual liberty everywhere.  I'd like to see people like JC Watts, Allen West and Sens. Scott, Cruz and Rubio be the face of the party for the next four years.

No. There is an abject FAILURE on the part of national leadership of the Republican party to adhere to basic principles on which most of us agree - smaller government, less spending, lower taxes.

You have to assume that not only will the Republicans speak to that chasm, but that people are LISTENING. Right now, all they're hearing is that Barry and his Thugs will give more free shit than the Repubs will.

I have lost a great deal of confidence in the ability of many Americans to THINK about what the hell they're hearing.

Sad part is you are right, the GOP will push more to the left every time they lose. By the time 2016 comes around I expect the GOP to run a pro amnesty, pro choice, gun grabbing moderate republican.

Based on all the "soul searching" the GOP has been doing since Nov, I don't see the GOP moving to the right. I see them moving more and more left.

I'd like to speak to that.  For all the talk from the Democrats on race, did they ever once develop a "farm team" of credible minority candidates for national office?  I think that's what they may have been trying to do when they gave Obama the keynote in 2004, but he jumped ahead of the timetable and ran in 2008 with no discernible accomplishments.
It worked for them this time, but who do they have in the pipeline?  The only names I can think of are Julian Castro and Cory Booker, but they're just mayors.  No one is going from city hall to the White House.  They have no minority farm team.

Meanwhile, the GOP, thanks in large part to the supposedly racist tea party, has politicians like Rubio, Cruz, Susannah Martinez, Bobby Jindal, and Nikki Haley all making names for themselves.  The Republican Party is looking strong for the future, not so much with the democrats.
