I bet old Tac, another of out misfits could tell you plenty of stories. He is a retired Chief.

I would bet there is a world of difference in today's Navy and the Navy my Dad joined in '31. I know there is a world of difference in the Army that has taken place in the last 50 + years since I was in. I couldn't cut it now. Wouldn't pass the physical with my bad knee. In '58, though, it did not matter. A warm body was all that was required.

No doubt!

My mother was a Navy Lt during WWII. And my dad was a Pharmacist's Mate. They met when both were stationed in Hawaii.

My son was on the Lincoln for 3.5 yrs after time in Pensacola in A school and Miramar for C school. He would not have passed the physical for the Army due to a badly broken ankle when he was 19. The ankle almost didn't make it through Navy Boot. He still has trouble with it swelling up and he's 31 now.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

"My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far I've finished two bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already." – Dave Barry

A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands.

Not to get too off conversation here, but when you mentioned his ankle...I know exactly what that's like.  I broke mine years ago and it's never healed right...still swells up on me.  That's why I can't take my long walks anymore too.  I usually wear one of those invisible elastic braces no one can see which help a lot.  Sorry to butt in...just had to say that...LOL

That is an impossible dream and/or nightmare, as the case may be.

Howdy M'am. If that be your family, it appears you have beautiful children. Mine are a tad older than that. :-)

Nothing like the grand babies. My oldest ( one of my daughters has a stepson that is older ) is getting married in March. I have a suspicion his bride will not want to wait too long to have a little one. We're looking forward to it. Actually his Momma is my step daughter, but she has been a part of my life for over 38 years, so she is just like mine, and her babies are my grand kids.

Strange we use to wish one off on her like she was. Little did we know that she could get one that would be a bigger pain in the arse than she. The little blonde is self motivated, very bright and studying ( her first year ) Marine Systems Engineering at Texas A & M- Galveston. Another grand daughter, ( my son's girl ) is also at TAMU this year.

Another one just enlisted. His younger brother goes into the Marines in June, the youngest of those boys is in high school, and the sister is in Junior High. ( these are all my natural daughter's children )

Truly, I be blessed with my babies and grand babies.

Thank you, Sir. My feeling is some of us that have known each other for a while, are seemingly having a ball just right here in the welcome thread. It is probably apparent by now I am a long winded cuss, but I like the mix. I have gone onto fora where noobs were treated like they were lower than whale crap, but so far everyone here seems like nice people.

Shooterman, I'm in the same boat as CC--welcome, and I'm kinda embarrassed that it took me 5 effin' pages to say that.  Somehow, I think I've seen you on a shooting related board or two . . .

Possibly Saint, but I haven't traveled that route very often. Visited a little gun board that was in Texas for a while, primarily for the politics forum on it. It kind of died when they killed that. More moons ago than I care to remember, I was on America Offline and when they made it plain gun  folks weren't welcome, I bailed. Of course they were down more than they were on anyway. Been around a few fora in my time ( more than I can say grace over ), most, if the truth was to be known, not particularly memorable.

Anyway, thanks for the welcome.

When Austin, my oldest grand son was little, I had a lot of time and kept him while his Momma finished her schooling. I changed more that one of his crappy diapers.

On a personal note, my opinion is people should return to using cloth diapers and only use the One Shots if traveling or if there is an emergency. Keeps a lot of extra junk out of the landfills.

Both of my babies used cloth diapers. With Cheryl, we had a diaper service, but we did not have that with Craig, especially in North Carolina.
