I would rather be proven wrong on this, so feel free to poke holes in my theory. I'm just depressed after listening to McCains latest Global Warming speech.

Every time McCain speaks he spouts liberal trash and alienates me further.
The only reason I'm voting for him is the war, he is the only one who will fight the terrorists.

The Year is still young. McCain could still drive away what remains of the
conservative base. That leaves only democrats who will vote for him.

A three way race fighting for the remaining democrat voters can go any way.
I used to think Obama's negatives would propel McCain into a landslide or at least a comfortable victory-especially with Hillary crossover votes.

But in a three way race the hard core Hillary voters stay put with her. Its the working and middle class democrats who will decide the race if the GOP voters sit this out (or go 3rd party).

In such a situation, Hillary could actually WIN. (The worst possible outcome!)
Obama may sound scary, but he's a noob, easily manipulated by others in congress. Hillary on the other hand is not constrained by the rule of law and would seek power in any way possible (Hugo style tyranny). In this case, she would use McCain as a Ross Perot against Obama, and she could win with little more than 30% of the vote.

I am NOT comfortable with this at all.

Mr.Mannn,

Hey! Maybe you got something there ............... or maybe you don't.

There is one thing that I am pretty sure of and that's she will most definately siphon off more votes from Obama than she ever would off McCain.

Personally I would like to see her run independant. Good God Almighty! There'd be a big to do in the demorat party if she did!

If anybody could be the first POTUS as a third party candidate, Hillary could - if she could make American women into voting by identity as Barack Hussein Obama has blacks, those numbers alone would be huge. There are many already that do not like him one bit - they are morphing now into weak McCain supporters.

Hillary hasn't given up her quest, and I doubt she'd bolt from the party, but she could still. Time is her big enemy now, she'd have to get on the ballot in all 50 (57 for BO) states, in a loss for the nomination, she'll probably end up watching Juan win and challenging him in four years (if politically feasible) instead. Else in 2012.

If mrs. clinton runs as an independent (I still say 50%), it would PERMANENTLY crack the democratic party in two, like the Democratic-Republican party in the 1820's.  But I think she is working the back rooms this week threatening to do just that.  She has 18 million votes in her holster, and she ain't afraid to use them.

It won't matter to her if she loses (she will) -- but she will leave a LEGACY and a permanent scar on the political landscape.  Who amongst us has ever left such a strong and deep footprint?
