Fox News Channel has signed former Congressman Dennis Kucinich as a paid contributor to FNC and Fox Business network. Kucinich, who was for years a liberal stalwart in the House of Representatives, will provide analysis and commentary across all of FNC and FBN’s programs, beginning with Thursday’s edition of “The O’Reilly Factor.”

“I’ve always been impressed with Rep. Kucinich’s fearlessness and thoughtfulness about important issues,” said Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes in a statement. “His willingness to take a stand from his point of view makes him a valuable voice in our country’s debate.”

Kucinich represented Ohio’s 10th district in Congress for 16 years, officially leaving office earlier this month. He also ran for President in 2004 and 2008, seeking the Democratic nomination.

I just got home from a long day of work. I perused the list of topics here at the DUmpster to see if anytihing jumps out at me as likely DUFUable material. And it is indeed THIS thread that immediately caught my eye. So I would say that there is a GOOD chance you will see something pop up at DUmmie FUnnies within 24 business hours, either from me or PJ, whoever gets to it first. In tangentially-related news, did you hear that Skeletor (Alan Colmes) was reported to have a fat lip?  There was speculation that someone took a swing at him and connected, or he had work done.  He said he "fell down."  That tell me his wife slugged him.  "I walked into a door.  It's nothing."

Dennis Kucinich's unlikely next act will be as a paid Fox News contributor, but he says it's "almost silly" to think that he'll be a kind of token.

"I'm way past that in my life and career," Kucinich said in a phone interview with BuzzFeed on Wednesday. "That's almost silly."

The former Ohio congressman, who lost his seat after redistricting to fellow Democrat Marcy Kaptur, said that Fox invited him to New York last week to discuss the deal. "That's when they made the offer and I accepted," he said.

He said that he'll appear on shows "across the Fox News Channel"; "There's a chance tomorrow, for example that I might end up being on O'Reilly. On another day I might end up being on Cavuto or on Fox Business."

In July, Kucinich announced that he was launching a PAC to support like-minded candidates after his exit from Congress. He said on Wednesday that "I'll continue to do that, but that's a long range plan and that's not going to in any way interfere with what I'm doing here."
