Stay the hell AWAY from the Senate

I really start to bristle when I hear of all these ideas to pick this or that Senator for this or that cabinet or other post.

We have a bare majority in the Senate. The Repubicans have effectively changed the rules such that a super majority is needed to get permission to go to the toilet, let alone accomplish anything. Our majority right now is so fragile that a guy who holds conference calls to help McCain is who makes it possible. After November it will likely be a lot safer, but not as likely to be a super safe super majority.

We need every damned Senator we have ...... including the likes of Mary Landrieu and the Nelsons.

There are **plenty** of highly qualified people to fill all manner of cabinet and Supreme Court posts. We do not need to raid the Senate.

Right off the bat, the primitives go off topic.

I can't bring myself to call it "Myanmar."

9. Bite your tongue!

Appoint Liarman and you might as well have McCain in office.

Actually, if McSame is appointed pResident by the corporate PTB, there is a good chance Liarman will be VP.

16. You are joking. You MUST be.

Get him out of the senate to hand him Dick Cheney's above the law powers established by the last 8 years of signing statements?

Isn't that a bit like taking away his knife and handing him a rocket launcher?

5. If a senator gets tapped for VP, is there a special election?

Or does the governor appoint someone?

10. It depends on the state

In some states, the governor appoints a replacement. In some states there is a special election. I am not certain, but I think in some states the seat remains vacant for a time.

We need to just leave the Senate the hell alone.

17. Here's an idea

Offer impressive-sounding but relatively impotent positions to Republican members of the Senate...

... in states where a Democratic governor will appoint the replacement.

18. It is not as critical if the state has a Democratic governor who would appoint another Democrat. Like in New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, etc.

23. Appoint Lieberman as ambassador to Antarctica

When his office slips into the sea, he can thank his Republican compatriots in his last email.

Um, I may be wrong, but from my recollection, this was caused by the Democrats.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

The soooooooooooooper intelligent, gifted, and talented do know that Lieberman has to want to take the job and he likes being a Senator?
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
