I've said for a very long time that any attempt to control firearms, and especially to confiscate them, would be as effective as Prohibition was in getting rid of alcoholism.

And if such an attempt were made, even I'd think about getting a gun, any gun, even though I don't know how to use one.....just as Prohibition steered people not necessarily inclined towards imbibing, to imbibe.

Every Tom, Dick, and Harry would have a gun if they were illegal.

And there'd be an escalation of violence, a critical breakdown in society, if guns were forbidden.

It's not that guns are responsible for stability of a society--although it is true that an armed society is a polite society, as is demonstated around here every day, and I myself as a vulnerable person (deafness) feel eminently comfortable being around people who have firearms and know how to use them. 

It's just that when something becomes taboo, it's ten times more enticing.

All of America would be like inner-city Chicago if guns were outlawed.

Also during Prohibition the US government set policy to POISON anyone that drank alcohol by putting it in the ingredients to make booze in the first place. If they ban guns and ammo it wouldn't surprise me if they would start to deliberately spike with C-4 or something else ammunition to force people away from owning/possesing guns. So tell us once again Dummies why we shouldn't fear our Government . The vary same one that told us Agent Orange was safe and the same one that experimented on people  with LSD and didn't tell them and the very same one that just raised your taxes after you voted them in and PROMISED you they would't do it.
