The best argument to throw in a Gun Nut's Face

Ironically, it comes from an article in which the word gun is not even mentioned, i.e., Paul Krugman's piece in the NYT advocating that a trillion-dollar platinum coin be minted, thus avoiding Republican bullshit over the debt ceiling. Here's a snippet:

Enter the platinum coin. There’s a legal loophole allowing the Treasury to mint platinum coins in any denomination the secretary chooses. Yes, it was intended to allow commemorative collector’s items — but that’s not what the letter of the law says. And by minting a $1 trillion coin, then depositing it at the Fed, the Treasury could acquire enough cash to sidestep the debt ceiling — while doing no economic harm at all.

http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/01/07/be-ready-to-mint-that-coin/

Just as the Second Amendment was intended to apply only to well-regulated militias! When your local NRA-worshipper starts ranting about how a $1,000,000,000,000 coin violates the spirit of the original law, well, you know what to do!

or you, with regard to the legality of such a coin. I hope your feelings aren't hurt, but I'm going to go with Paul.

Well you know they don't hand out Nobels to just anyone.  :rotf:

Tell you what DUmmies how about we mint 20 of them? That way we can pay off our debt and that gives 0bama another 4 trillion plus the 650 billion in new taxes to play with?  :mental:

Did he get the Nobel for the trillion dollar coin idea or the alien invasion stimulus plan or some other stroke of genius entirely?

I'm not surprised that the DUmmies would turn to that idiot for ideas.

no economic harm at all?

Listen DUmbass, the coin is only worth what others are willing to value and pay for it, not what you say it's worth.

Shouldn't the Stooge primitive be looking for areas where gun control has worked to decrease violence as his "argument to throw in the gun nuts faces"?  Chicago, for example.

So how many people with guns would be needed to guard that coin?

So, when one of Obama's homies puts lead in DUmmies face.......will his tune change?

Well, Krugman called the idea silly (it was a reader's idea), and then the whole thread fell apart.  Fighting about what "well regulated militia" meant.  Finally, 3stooges self-deleted the entire thread.  His best argument to throw in a Gun Nut's Face did not go as planned.

I challenge the Dummies to find any bit of writing by the founding fathers that support the idea that the 2nd amendment was intended to only protect the ability of the country to form a well regulated militia and not to protect gun ownership for individuals.
