Okay, the semi-annual poll.
Are we too mean to the primitives on Skins's island?
We call them names, we ridicule their deepest thoughts, we make fun of their looks.
But really, are we too mean to them?

There's the constant debate about making fun of fat people, as if it's not a thing decent and civilized people should do, but I beg to differ, as we go lightly on making fun of fat primitives.
One wonders if many are aware how many fat primitives there
actually are.
Trust me, there's lots of fat primitives, scads of them, herds of them, hordes of them.
Two out of every three primitives are significantly "plus-sized."
But we go lightly on making fun of
fat primitives because unless they politicize their plight, that aspect of the primitives is usually overlooked, as if it doesn't exist.
I mean, how many times has the rich bitch been made fun of for her.....fatness? She's not obese, but she's a little more than matronly in build, what one might call a "husky"
femme. But nobody makes fun of her stoutness because she hasn't politicized her weight, blaming it on George Bush and Republicans.
I think if a primitive injects politics into his size, then it's perfectly okay to mock his fatness.

Then there's the issue of bodily deformities; is it cool to make fun of a primitive who's a freak?
As most here know, franksolich is a freak, born without ears, due to what's medically classified as an "environmental accident," the use of Accutane in hand-soaps before it was known that it does things like this to pre-born infants.
As a freak, I, franksolich, say it's perfectly acceptable to mock and ridicule a primitive who's a freak due to his life-style choices and own volition (hint: the subway cat as an example).
They didn't have to be freaks, after all. But for whatever reasons, they wilfully and purposely uglified themselves.
When it comes to a primitive who's a freak due to circumstances beyond the primitive's control (birth defects, whatnot), one should exercise judgement.
On one hand, it's not cool to make fun of someone who handles his freakness with acceptance and nonchalance.
But on the other hand, it's perfectly okay to make fun of a defective primitive who whines and bitches and moans and groans and self-pitifies that his life is all screwed up and ruined because he's a freak.....and even more okay if the deformed primitive puts politics into it.

Finally, there's the issue of being mean to primitives because one knows a great deal of personal stuff about them, such as their real-life names.
I've been moderator of the DUmpster since the beginning, and have read every single word said here; every vowel, every consonaut, every punctuation mark. I've read it all.
Never--and I mean this absolutely--has it ever happened, not even once, that personal stuff about primitives has been discussed in the DUmpster unless a specific primitive himself somewhere on his own volition, by his own voluntary act, revealed it
first, such as the sparkling old dude having to use the bathroom in the basement because his trophy wife doesn't want him to stink up the good bathrooms on first and second floors.

I'm only one vote here, but I don't think we've been too mean to the primitives at all; if anything, we've been far too nice to them, we need to improve on this.
